I often wonder about this myself. Not because I own a bike of (even remotely) that value.. But because some day I probably will.
How common are thefts when locking/unlocking/stationary generally? My housemate had a knife put to his throat at a set of lights for his Aprilia. Granted it wasn't a pushbike but I know people with bicycles worth a lot more than his RS125...
For those of you considering commuting on a £3k+ custom bike and then using a £145 padlock, a £100 chain and a £70 D-lock to secure it outdoors;
There will come a point where the person who really wants your bike realises it's easier to attack you rather than the locks/chains. Be extremely vigilant when locking and unlocking.
