  • Turn out one of Apple iOS8 background was taken without the original owner's permission, yet somehow he's happy about it.

  • Why wouldn't he be happy about it? It was bought through 500px, so he'll have been handsomely compensated.

  • Yeah nothing sinister going on there.

  • Having a bit of a clearout, D200 for sale. Battery, charger, 8gb Sandisk card and Sandisk CF card reader. They seem to be going on ebay for £100, but I'll take £75 , and donate some money to the forum. Great camera. SOLD

  • Nikon D40 with a 60mm Holga plasticky lens.

  • Selling my Olympus m43rds 12-50mm 1:3.5-6.3 - sharp, light, weatherproof, macro, video optimised, a tad slow on the long end. Almost talked myself out of it, but yours for £140

  • Been adding some stuff to Tumblr... Some of it has probably already been posted here already.

Need to get out and shoot more. Its been a pretty dry few weeks other than work stuff. That said, I did a shoot with Mike Skinner last week. It was hands-down the most relaxed portrait shoot I've done - turns out he's a real camera geek (and shoots with an a7s). He had a play with the 6D and was just very open and easy to be around. Genuinely just a safe guy.
Will be able to post one of them once it goes to press.

    Really good.

I did a shoot with Mike Skinner

    Which one?

  • Which one?

    The geezer from The Streets.

  • Aww man... and I thought you meant the rugby player.
    : [

  • Where can we see your shots of Skinner? He's a bit of ledge. Annoyingly I saw him coming out of a show last fashion week, but I was busting ass to another event, so didn't get chance to collar him for a portrait.

I shot him live at Reading 02 I think? Great showman.

  • I graduated from D70 to a D200 years ago and it was my workhorse until I got a 2nd hand D700. I think it's an under-rated classic - I still use it. Someone's got a bargain!

Ben - have you got a D750 yet?

  • You're totally right about the D200, a classic. When Nikon started doing full frame it was awesome, but there was something about the D200 that the D3 or the D700 didn't quite ever touch. I remember a few years ago people asking what cheap DSLR camera to buy, and the answer was always: Second hand D200.

And yes, I haz 750 and I love it. You?
Admittedly I have spent a stupid amount of money for the ability to send photos to my phone so I can tweet them instantly, but hey, it keeps the clients happy.

I'm no photographer, just for fun and I delete most of what I take, but I'm quite pleased with these.

  • I suffer from Gear Acquisition Syndrome as much as anyone, but I was never seriously tempted by later DX bodies like the D300.

I got the D700 (and took a punt on a potentially broken 24-70 F2.8 on ebay) for a trip to Australia a couple of years ago and love the images it makes. I'm shifting to FX lenses now and have done a couple of deals recently to swap a 17-55 F2.8 for a 16-35 F4.

And yes, GAS is incurable. A D750 should arrive this week!

This review went round the interwebs two or three weeks ago. You must have seen it, but if you haven't, it was a compelling read! I'm sure the article has helped boost sales!

  • I was busting ass

    Oh, Ben. :Z

  • @well_is_it looking forward to seeing the Mike Skinner portrait. Loving your Tumblr.

  • Cheers dude. I'll post it once it's gone to press...

  • Keen to get a compact to be able to take with me on tours etc. Ricoh GR very tempting... People here love it IIRC?

  • Great camera if you like wide angle lenses. If they'd made a 35mm version I'd be all over it

  • Yes I read that review, and soon as he starts saying he bought it, and has nothing to do with Nikon.... Yeah, chinny reckons.

When it arrives, tape down the eyepiece protector (DK-21). I've already lost one, and nearly lost the other one twice.

And fuck SD cards. Stupid fiddly things. I hates them.

  • A portrait of a blues musician I took last night. It was a nice change to shoot some stills as most of the time these days I'm working with video.

  • Nice! Good job with the lighting.
