Import duty question
I'd like to buy a bag from the states. My options are send it to wherever I am (where the postal system is in chaos right now), or send it to the UK and have someone who's meeting me bring it.
I've been stung a couple of times with imports, but the main ballache is the ridiculous "handling fee" / parcel-farce-hussle. Obviously I don't want someone who's doing me a favour to have to then pay extra fees.
Is there any way to have a declaration to prepay the fee so as to avoid the handling fee?
Or is it just worth the punt and send some £s to the person picking it up?
Bonus question, is there an EU supplier of anything like (and as nice) as the Tom Bihn Smart Alec?
http://www.tombihn.com/PROD/TB0103.htmlCheers.

Anyone with a gabba know if someone with a 98cm chest would get away with an xl which is on the size chart for 105cm?
edit- my normal jersey size for my clubs racefit jerseys is large and I've seen recommendations to size up, but I'm not sure what size I am in castelli.

Surely their threading isn't unique, couldn't you sub in some other better distributed brand?

Does anyone know what this thingy is called
If it has a name, it probably something like 'adjustable B-stop'. Usually I'd suggest downloading the spare parts catalogue from campagnolo.com to obtain the actual part number, but that looks older than their archive, so I wouldn't hold out any hope of getting one even if you knew the number. Probably best to start searching/asking for the same model of dérailleur in non-functioning condition and make sure that whatever turns up has that part whatever else is missing/broken.

Low-stack non-integrated Threadless headsets.
I've got a Voodoo hardtail with an 11cm headtube and a 100mm RS Reba fork with a 17cm steerer.
Most FSAs seem to be at least 32mm. (Leaves only 28mm for stem and one spacer).
I've found the CaneCreek 40 at 28mm stack (leaves 32mm).
Is there anything hideously wrong with this cheap "Acor" steel-cupped headset which claims a 23mm stack height?

Costs £13.78 inc P&P.

I think the crank bros ones are pretty slim, and cheap now if you can find them in stock anywhere.

The SS ones are soft and will fail even when to correct tools are used and the "C" (bearing steel) ones rust easily.
I looked for them when building my light Salsa Singlespeed MTB and couldn't find them particularly cheap.

I can't find them anywhere now, I guess they've been discontinued for the reasons you mentioned. They were crazy cheap a couple of months back!

Has anyone got off the Eurostar at the wrong stop. i.e. getting off at Lille rather than London when coming back from Brussels. I can't see there'd be an issue with it but has anyone experienced otherwise?

E-bay now has an international program that deals with this, so you won't get stung with fees. But of course that depends if they have what you need...

Is there any way to protect bike paint?
My Gazelle track has a distinct 3 stripes fade which you can't touch up easily and of course bloody stone chips, etc.
I put clingfilm (yes) on the stay to protect stripes there, it works but it's fugly to clingfilm a bike... ;)

Just embrace the wear and tear. Gives character.
I bought a bike with these that had 20mm tyres on, did about 100 miles before I realised why I was some uncomfortable.
