  • James, please, what do you think I've been doing since I got home from work:

    Bare frame (plus BB30 bearings)

Cannondale Super Six forks (which I will be using instead of the originals)

    3T Doric LTD seatpost

    Specialized Romin carbon

    Cannondale/Controltech Stem

    Tune Schraubwürger seatpost clamp

    Shimano Dura-Ace 9070 Adapter

Headset Inc. extra low stack height topcap

  • I need to work out a way of using this cool top cap thing without a star nut

  • That should screw straight into a bung, correct thread on the bolt.

I liked the Extralite UltraStar 2 - I'd provide a link but the forum borks.

  • Extralite one

or the J&L one, which as far as i can tell is the exact same

  • Good spot.

  • Such weighing, much rad.

  • You need to tear out the interior of your house as you build the bike.

    Thems the rules.

  • It builds into a fantastic bike though, so it is worth it.

  • You'd best start stocking up on zip ties if you wanna top dammit's build...

  • yes... yes... this build is progressing exactly as I would like

    #watchingthegrams #allblackerrythang

  • Looks good. If you're concerned about weight buy full carbon saddle at aliexpress. Around 95-105g for 15£.
And looking forward to the complete build.

  • That stem is fucking great, though I think it would suit my bike more ;)

  • @ChainBreaker has one of these too. With the as-per-catalogue ksyrium edition speciales. maybe you should ask him for build advice.

  • He's got a basket on his too no?

  • Will get one, thanks for the link!

  • Basket? Paleeeeeez.... It's a food carrier of justice...

But actually I don't have it on. That's only for fun of the DD ;-)

    Love my/this bike.

  • Good to have a great thread to read for the up and coming months (no riding due to school) Keep on the good work @spotter looking forward epic build!

  • Cheers Ho.

For the groupset I've decided on SRAM Force 22*

    *Apart from the cranks.

I would have loved to get some ee brakes like Dammit...

...but they're out of stock till next year and cost a fucking fortune.
Another option was the Planet X CNC brakes...

...but Im told they're a nightmare to get working well so I guess I'll just use the Force ones.

And whilst I do want carbon wheels, I think its a bit pointless for the winter so I'll be getting something like A23 rims laced to Novatec SL hubs

  • Why not Kinlin XR200? And CX rays of course .. OR BHS offerings ..

  • Why not Kinlin XR200?

Because I'm too big, they have a weight limit of 70kg

    And CX rays of course

    of course

  • I've got the planet-x and I think they're brilliant, set up with Sram red levers and PTFE coated brake cables. conversely I found force callipers utter shite

  • xr300? Also Kalloy stem is lighter than that stem up thread ^^^

  • I guess I'll just use the Force

Best to trust your feelings on this one, spotter.

  • Another vote for PX brakes, Joeboat is selling some here http://www.lfgss.com/conversations/256390/

  • Think I have a cannondale SI top cap and expander in my parts box - not sure of the internal dia. it's meant for but it was too big for my older all carbon 1 1/8 slice forks... might fit yours if you need?

Nice choice for Force - if you decided on ditching the brakes (not sure why you would but...) I would likely buy them.
