Respect to those who died on Ash Wednesday
-
• #1256
Terrible.
When I first went to Catholic high school (13 years old), I was surprised they were commemorating Ash Wednesday in Queensland. Penny eventually dropped that the liturgical schedule was for lent, and not bush fire remembrance.

"I just hope this is not the end of me..."
...said the man who had watched piss filling his mouth from his own penis.

I was in Melbourne over the weekend when this came out. They seemed fairly surprised that he had been sacks. It is apparently a new internet craze called 'bubbling'. I think its fairly normal behavior in Oz.

Tasmanian author Richard Flanagan won the Man Booker Prize here in the UK this week.
Definitely one for the Christmas wish-list!

..is that just Australia in general from what I've heard?
-
• #1269
Oh, just you wait until you get there. The xenophobia and let's not fanny about, blatant fucking racism is alive and well in the big cities too, darling. I left Melbourne to move here remember. In fact, next year will mark the tipping point where I will have spent more time in London than Melbourne.

Don't get me wrong, there are loads of open-minded, really cool people in Australia, just like here. But there are also a shit tonne of racist, homophobic, scared little insular island dwellers that don't like 'darkies coming over here stealing our jobs'. The kind of shit I didn't think I'd get here, oh until everyone started voting for fucking UKIP. Anyway, both countries have pluses and both countries have negatives. I wish I could combine them and make a mega hippyville. Peace.

Agreed. My (white) mate stayed a few weeks in Melbs with his (black) girlfriend and came across all kinds or racism. Massive shame.

Crocodile is the largest reptile on the planet. They use Alligators for toothpicks.
"Both reptiles are angry, but crocodiles are more aggressive compared with alligators. Alligators trying to flee more often when a man approached, while crocodiles tend to attack anything around them."
