Shimano BR 451 should do you fine. Get the R650 if you can afford them, they are excellent.

I run two old 27" frames with 700c wheels. I use the dia-compe BRS 202 with both of them and they perform plenty well. @dan I struggled to find a Shimano caliper with enough drop; I looked at the BR 451 but 57mm wasn't quite enough.

These work if you need serious drop, but I wouldn't want to do any serious descending with them... http://www.spacycles.co.uk/products.php?plid=m2b37s100p149

thanks people i suppose the deeper the drop the less
efficient brakes are generally? so if you have got the lolly which i haven't it makes sense to go up
market and shimano.i guess any brake could be improved with good quality pads
so lets expand the thread and look at good alternatives to one pad been going for ages 'aztec' -

thanks people i suppose the deeper the drop the less
efficient brakes are generally?Maybe in theory but TRP RG957 are great - really powerful, nice modulation, nicely made. Ultegra grey color option. They're just really expensive.
That said I'm so happy with my first pair I'm about to buy another.

Tektro R559:
I've got them on my bike that I converted from 27" wheels. Complete transformation from the rubbish Weinmann Centre Pulls that were on there before.
hi im just on the brink of receiving my winter training frame.
its almost certainly 'nutted' brakes and prob built for 27" rims.
there was a post made here i can't find about 'diacompe' ones
that should do fine! thanks in advance.
