chicharrón
In hindsight, I think I was a little hasty.
Would you consider a Pale Ale a suitable compromise?
On the subject of chain maintenance, I have nothing to say.

I think it would probably have to, unless someone's come up with Quorn scratchings in the interim

Well, to be fair, I would probably go "6 or 8 cans crap cold mexican pale beer" like tecate or pacifico were I to encounter chicharrónes in their native habitat. There we go again on the decent behavior front though.

What you'd want with some good scratchings is a (Manns? Adnams?) brown over bitter. The bitter giving a base of hoppy acridity with the brown adding depth and a touch of fizz.
Of course the other thing my vegetarianism denies me is those hipster scotch eggs that are all over the place these days

as for donuts, here in this town alongside pfannkuchen, which are not pancakes despite their name,* are the quarkbällchen. These things are great and it is all I can do to not get 3 for a € every morning.
* which is criminally missleading [EDIT so was my footnote location] -

Boiled egg surround by bacon meat (minced up bacon) then dipped in doughnut batter then deep fried. Maybe a maple sugar glaze.....
-
• #88
i'd add jam into the egg, but otherwise you have described a scotch donut!
forget your cronuts kids, the sconut™ is going to be the cholesterol busting event of 2015!

Ah the bluenote, a part of me really hankers back to days of drinking pints of JD and Coke dancing like a lunatic in that death trap.

Foot long pork scratchings :)

It's my pat pending.......
Which layer would the jam go between? Maybe chili jam?
-
• #93
i cannot possibly divulge the secret processes involved in creating the sconut™..

Well this thread escalated quickly.

Ahh, remember back in the day when we were talking about important donuts like always wearing shorts over your lycra. It's easy to turn a jaundiced eye toward this thread's humble beginnings. I remember it, however, as being ugly but not without its charms. Like the 90s. Or Land Cruisers.

This is turning in to a doughnut war.......@rive_gauche you'll be hearing from my lawyer....I spent years of my life developing that doughnut....years...the bacon doughnut never caught on.......
Wonder if frying the doughnut in lard/dripping would work with a chili jam?

bacnut ≠ sconut™
see you in court, hoser

Odd why didn't @rive_gauche highlight?
Taste off...hippy to decide.

Next time I fry chips in dripping, I'm going to do a doughnut and see what it comes out like.
will your vegetarianism turn a blind eye for the day?
