  • I just wish my commute was more scenic.

  • Great weather for a commute. Empty roads only a couple other cyclists.

  • You live in the East Midlands, it's flat.

  • Seven traffic lights. So jealous. I would count the lights on my commute but I lose count at eleventy-billion.

  • ^eleventy-billion and 1.

  • 1 for me. And a ped crossing, so 2. It used to be none but urban gon sprawl. I'd actually like more as the cars usually beat me, unless it's bin day.

  • seven sisters road last night. lights have gone green but a lane of cars doesn't move. I pass the culprit: woman just sat there completely engrossed in her phone. weird thing was no-one behind her got impatient or beeped or owt.

  • Super cool contributions there, well done.

  • probably all to busy checking their own phones...

  • Funny you should pipe up, last time a cycled with you you asked me "are you cool with jumping reds?"

  • Really shit commute this morning, wedged into a stuffy, overheated train. Rear flat and no spare tube nor time to patch. Brightened up significantly by meeting @Dazzler to pick up a Sugino crankset - cheers mate!

  • Punched window of car that tried to insert its wing mirror in my arse. Satisfying.
Just to preempt; you can all fuck off with your righteous 'should be calm' bullshit, it's my fucking life they're risking.

  • Now I am glad I asked! I wasn't aware such a thing existed. This could be life changing.

  • Obvious clubber dancing, like no-one was watching, across Vauxhall Bridge this morning at 6am. Made me smile.

  • Dropped my chain at the lights. I've been to lazy to fix my ridiculous track slack that's crept in over the last couple of days. Lesson learnt...

  • Are you changing your user name?

  • "hippy" was given to me by a mate 20 years ago because I had long hair and looked stoned. I am a capitalist pig that would run an evil dictatorship if given half the chance.

  • Ha!

I once saw a fairly inconspicuous young chap trundling along Mile End Rd half dead at 6.30am. A van blaring out some sort of house music stopped at the lights, forcing this zombie-esque trundler to wake up, throw involuntary shapes, and wave manically at the van driver, finishing with a double thumbs up, much to the amusement of me, the van driver, and pretty much everyone else stopped at the lights.

RLJers miss out on these kind of scenes.

  • Everyone wearing full length winter tights and full-finger gloves and jackets and things wrapped around their faces, are you mental, it's spring already!

  • I started wearing my long sleeve undershirt as it's pretty nippy first thing but then I'm dripping after 10min so I should probably forget it. It's still shorts and t-shirt temps.

  • I'm out at 7am, so a long-sleeved jersey is welcome, but still shorts and mitts so far. Crazy so'westerlies bringing nice warm air in for us cyclists

  • Emergency stop didn't work today...

Just had a pedestrian walk out in front of me after rounding the left hand corner at the bottom of Pentonville road. The light was green and there is no pedestrian crossing there. She walked out a bit, stopped then decided that she could get passed last minute, by which time I was already braking, but there wasn't enough time to stop. She got up shrieking and walked off leaving me to pick myself up off the road.

I should probably also point out that she was on her phone as well...

  • Consoled a shy chap who came at me and wobbled on the slippery mess around Wandsworth roundabout and ended up losing his front wheel for, he said, the second time that morning. Keeping left really makes it easier even on a cycle path. Glad you were OK.

  • Same 'ere though no mitts this morning.
