There it is again. Stop trying so hard.

Some laughs to be had here and the odd good cup of coffee...

Am lost...how is it trying to hard?

Really, try some of Aldi coffees. Seeing as the Aldi family started the chain by being coffee roasters, the coffee sold in Aldi the instant, ground and beans win awards.
Still like the Ikea coffees.

Can't call the person a coffee roaster as he/she has bought the bean roaster yet does seem to understand how to use it hence coffee cooker.
Suspect there may be a cheap bean roaster for sale soon in the home counties...any one fancy going halfs.

Continuing adventures of using an aeropress at work. One and a half scoops + water to one and a half mark + water from the boiling water machine - cooled with a bit of tap water = a super cup.

In other news playing with grind and dose for the espresso machine yesterday, using about 2g less coffee at finer grind has improved my shots.

Evening all - what are peoples thoughts/advice on cleaning electric burr grinders?
Bought a Cunill from @dsan in December 2013. Great piece of kit but not got the foggiest about how to clean it. Always cleaned my Porlex but have read all sorts online re: larger grinders from just leave it alone to using instant rice.

I've been recommended this: http://www.hasbean.co.uk/products/grindz-grinder-cleaner-430g but not used it myself.

Or clean it by grinding dried rice

End of the line for these dudes: https://twitter.com/espressi/status/523660224805101568
I have always felt a bit "..." about them, but more novel coffee gear is always better than less I suppose.

My porlex keeps on grinding coarser than I want it to. I dial it in again, re-grind it and it's ok and then then next day when I go to use it, it is back grinding too coarse. Has the spring gone in it?
-
• #10342
No, I'll have a go at that, is it a hard job?

Sorry if this has been covered before, but need suggestions on where to buy pouches with valves.
Like a hundred of them, prefarably 250g ones, standard "Kraft" paper.Ordered samples from that one guy in the Netherlands, they are ok, but the guy messed up my order as well as two friends' orders (sent wrong puches / forgot pouches), so sort-of hesitate to place an order there..

I sat in the middle of the office on my chair with swivelling action feature and then started to hand-grind my coffee in the usual clockwise manner.
When I simultaneously span clockwise, it was pretty trippy; but when I switched to anti-clockwise rotation, it like totally made me sick, brah. Like proper illness sick. Fucking nausea arse (U.S. ass) shit.
It's like I don't even need to brew the coffee to get high.
Life is crazy with a lower case 'k' sometimes. I can't wait to recount the tale to my impressionable boy child later.

What the world desperately needs is a swivel chair with a coffee grinder integrated into the seat post. Then you could just swivel and grind, swivel and grind, swivel and grind...

• #10346
Fuck yeah. I'd
buytry to get the Library finance team to go through procurement (having approved the supplier) to buy one. -

Someone is probably building the kickstarter template as we speak.
"This is so the most important problem that people want solved right now..."

I would buy the crap out of that

Had a very nice filter coffee from Daily Goods in Camberwell this morning - I think it was one of the single origin Workshop coffees. Was definitely worth the extra walk to avoid the awful coffee in King's hospital :-/

If it's a big unit, then I'd remove the adjustable burr (count how many turns to remove so you know how many when putting it back on). Then shove a hoover into the throat, with maybe a bit of small brush action.
Yep, it fixed itself after I ignored it for three weeks.
