It's probably pretty safe. There's a good page somewhere by David (I can't spell his surname just now) Boettecher which details how to deal with Radium dials.
My watchmaker has a meter for measuring radiation and used this on an ex-military Omega which I sent him recently. Apparently safe to wear, despite the mounds of Radium lume.
So I caused a contamination alert at a Nuclear Licensed site today. Who knew that the Girard Perregaux alarm features a radium dial which has been sitting on my wrist happily emitting about 10 x the radiation level that they consider alert-worthy? #csb #notgonnastopwearingit
