• Sod the soup then haha

  • Whats that like £1k retail? Pfff

Has anyone had experience of using an threadless converter?

Adds weight and complexity - I'd use a quill stem for this.

I found my Serotta Ti stem on US eBay, they seem to pop up relatively often - just be aware that the TIG weld can crack, so inspect carefully!

  • Dammit! You maybe right....Ti would look pretty cool against a black CK and white paintwork. Does yours flex a lot?

  • Can you run 10 speed Sram Red on R45's? Do I just need at 1.85mm spacer?

  • It depends if your r45's are 11 speed, if they are, you need spacer, if not, you don't :)

  • They are 11 speed, thanks for the info.

  • Which reminds me I have a ti stem from my Cannondale CAD3. Did it flex I do not remember the frame certainly did not.

  • Definately contemplating Sram Force 22 for this! Wheres cheapest Merlin?

  • Dammit! You maybe right....Ti would look pretty cool against a black CK and white paintwork. Does yours flex a lot?

Mines very stiff- with the M106 bars it's a very reassuring front end. If you are in London you are welcome to have a go on my CSi.

  • Hi Dammit, I am based in London - thats a very kind offer.

Loving the look of Sram Red-Yellow.

Does anywhere still hold stock of it? Looks like it was launched end of 2010 early 2011....

  • Get Chris Martin to serenade a regular groupo. Or buy 11 speed Force with Red brifters.

  • ^ Ha. good work. Found one place in the US that ahs it listed but its BB30!

  • possible dumb post, but wouldn't rotor bsa30 do the job? or would it widen the bb too much for a native crankset?

  • Rotor BSA30 uses outboard bearings so the spindle length of the BB30 crank would be too short .. shell width of BB30 (road) is 68mm with internal bearings .. I thought along similar lines for a past project. There was a dodge that I saw someone used on the Weight Weenies board once of using a Cannondale crank with a mountain spindle and some custom machined cups with thin bearings.

  • Ti seat post would sit well with the other flashes of the material...it's not like you'll have yards of seatpost showing?

  • Would love a Kent Erikson sweetpost, but they are proper money. My Samson has the same ST so guess around 5 and half inches of post showing....

  • Called Parcel Force this will be delivered Monday. £90 customs charge - BOOM!

  • Ouch.

  • £90 on the whole bike! Didn't think that was too bad, hopefully collecting from my parents this weekend!

  • My stem and post don't really match, but they're close enough for me:

The post is an unknown make, but nicely enough made.

  • Oh, didn't realize it was the complete bike. Well, then it's pretty good I reckon.

  • @Dammit - thanks for the pictures. Is the clamp size of the Serotta stem 26.0?

I've currently got a Van Nic Ti 15mm layback in my watch list as we speak.

Finally picked this up from my parents this wekeend, here are few quick snaps:

The paint is an awesome white pearlscent colour, seiously lustful.

I've stripped all the Record Ti components off this and will be putting on Sram Force 22.

Just need to get a CK headset sorted.

Can anyone recommend a quill with a 26.0 clamp? I want to swap over my SOMA HWY ones from my samson.

  • Not sure, to be honest - it's very tight to get onto Nitto bars.

  • Hmmm. Got to find one too! Quite like the look of these, and only 40 euro from Mario Verhoeneven at the moment, might be a good stop gap?

  • This is what mine came with originally:

I've got a spare one, BNIB, which you can have if you come and get it. 120mm.
