Same barber this year.
Evidently no need for a repeat treatment,
last years epilation must have taken out the small white hairs roots'n'all. . -

Howard Jones is from High Wycombe, he does a night at the Old Swan there every second tuesday.
All the originals, its a good night they do b.o.g.o.f deals on a pie and a pint.
He still has a bit of a trouble with mental chains and preconcieved ideas, but if you write a request slip on the way in and ask for inclusion he will play it. -

OK,
no denying this is a boastpost,
but who here ever saw Joy Division live? -

big up Jonesy
i swore a vow to swerve chip shop type pies after a girl from bermondsey i dated told me she worked in a food contamination checking co/type job
she said they got a loaf of packaged sliced bread once with a cooked mouse in it, embedded in the bread slices, kinda like a rodent scotch egg
the pie story was that one got sent for analysis after the recipient bit in to it , and found it too chewy
the chewiness was a condom, unsure if unused

No mate,
it was the Wild Swans,
(often introduced by [David] Kid Jenson,
with his Canadian twang, on the pre-Peel show).http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wild_Swans_%28band%29

OK,
no denying this is a boastpost,
but who here ever saw Joy Division live?Very good question! Just missed themr. They played in Cologne 15.01.80 and my first punk gig was later in the year.

I saw Joy Division play in a church in Bristol. My memories of the night are hazy but I think they played four songs and then Ian had a problem and they vanished, not to return...
This was not long after my first proper gig, which was Costello, John Cooper Clarke and Richard Hell & The Voidoids...
I missed the Clash.

Ooh the internet. March 5, 1980, Trinity Hall, Bristol. That was a whole year after the Costello/Voidoids show. I interviewed Robert Quine many years later and he was ace.

OMD I never liked. I tried with Dazzle Ships. It was shite. Art of Noise however, they were strange and funky.
I hated all that eclecto new wave glam pop at the time - none more so than Depeche Mode, who ironically now I figure were actually really fucking good at it
what was the question? why did I come upstairs?
-
• #1223
I bought the first four or five Depeche Mode singles and Speak & Spell, loved them 'til Vince Clarke left...
Yazoo were shit...
