Son of Stag.
They don't have those particular ones but I got an idea of fit etc and they said they'd try and order me some in

Sweet, I'll pop in there next time I'm in town
It's worth keeping an eye on Danner's Breakroom for bargains

They only ship to the states though I think

Any thoughts on using Scarpa HS12 proofing cream. It is what they spec for their calf leather hiking boots. It is silicone based.

Don't know if this is the right place to ask I have several pairs of grenson shoes and boots. I would like a similar thing but with a place for spd cleats. Can any one help.

Just in case anyone missed out:

@speeddemon, nearest you gone get.

^I have a pair of those and they are amazingly comfortable even on long rides - as long as you get the lacing right. Get it wrong and there will be pain. Ladder lacing works best, in my experience.
Only problem is that the studs on the heel wear down over time. Need to ask a good shoe repair place how to fix that.

they should use replaceable ones, like the high end sidi's.
-
• #4187
I like them I was hoping for more of a wing tip brogue :-(
-
• #4188
wouldn't a skilled cobbler be able to work in accommodation for cleats in your old brogues? murtle?
you should also think about the lacing the 3 or 4 lacing holes on typical dress shoes is not enough for a secure and comfortable fit on a cycling shoe. imo. -

Anything with a thick sole, like Grenson Archie's, should be able to take cleats just bolted on. But as Drøn says, they won't give you enough support. Could be worth it for fun though

My Meindl hiking boots are in need of some TLC. However, I'm in Perú and even if I could find some sort leather treatment I don't want to have to carry it or spend much money on it.
My options seem to be;
- Clean and then ask a shoe-shinner on the streets to polish then. I'm guessing shoe polish will have some sort of nutrients,
- Find a substitute that I'll use in my general travelling - moisturiser seems like the obvious choice.
Would using sun cream or body moisturiser fuck them up? Are there any other usually cheap supermarket substitutes?
... Or am I best off going with the shoe shinners?
I also might be able to get someone to bring something out from the UK for me, does anyone know of anything that comes in tinny sachets?
Answers on a postcard please.
Cheers.

does a shinner polish yer shins?
is a tinny sachet in fact a tin?
-
• #4194
One polish from a shoe shiner could only help if the boots are really dried out.
-
• #4195
Peru? Gotta be someone with a tin of horse saddle leather stuff or something? Tallow? Animal fat?
Bees wax? dunno, these are totally guess work! -
• #4197
Totally for.
Unless those boots are made of lace, they'll easily survive even the "wrong polish"omg. -
• #4198
You could ask around for betún de santiago, which appears to be the local brand of polish

I doubt it'll cost the earth, somehow.

@withered_preacher - I somehow read what you wrote totally differently.
@h2o - cheers.

'Confound it' seems to be an imperative in my approach.
Nice boots, @snoops...
I've been enjoying rotating my two trusty pairs of Red Wings recently... Great investment, they'll last you years and years...
