The commute to the kettle at 8am was a bind, but I made it in good time, toast seemed to take ages, then worked for the entire morning - sat in the comfort of my own home. This Consulting lark is far more fun than it possibly should be....... Looks shit out too!

HP Compaq LA2405wg. It takes a couple hours but by noon they are no longer wet. Afterwards they do smell like weird electricity and the process does generally makes the surrounding cubicles smell kinda funky.

I guess there's still a bit of heat coming out of LCDs. I wouldn't be draping soggy stuff over mine. Work's on the other hand..

Well, exactly. Thanks IT department!

I thought the monitor was the drying rack of choice in the office. My desk looks like a Chinese laundry - stuff drying everywhere. Including gloves on the monitor. iMacs get lovely and toasty.

I hang my stuff on the bike which is in front of some large vent in the carpark. The stuff that stops me walking into the office naked gets draped over anything I can find and is generally still wet for the ride home. Good practice for touring.

Remember these?
No fan, just convection cooling meant you could dry socks, make cheese toasties, shrink crisp packets... probably. It wouldn't have been wise though. -
• #2735
Just pack an extra pair of socks, for the love of god.

2 pairs of socks per day. Ride in, change into other socks, ride home, ride in change into day befores ride in socks, ride home, ride in change into day befores ride in socks and so on.

I treated myself to overshoes this morning. It seemed silly for 35 minute commute...
Doesn't matter, it take ages to dry shoes, and by the time it's dry, you get it wet again.

My head's spinning ...

That'll be the stench...

glasses and rain :( I forget how dangerous it is until I'm near death due to not being able to see and other traffic thinking I can..

I actually bought a pair of Uvex Ultrasonic safety goggles when I got home:

You know that part in Bad Boys 2 where the rats are eating the evil drug dealer's money and he's shooting them with his pistol and he says to his henchmen 'it's stupid fucking problem to have but it's still a problem'? That's how I feel about this ridiculous wet sock chat.

Bit Cousteau for my taste but should do the job.
CSB...Got home from wet & wild Autumn commute a while back, looked in mirror and saw a brown dollop of something in one eye. Took a closer look after initial shock to discover a big old piece of leaf had insinuated itself onto the eyeball like a contact lens.
Was a bugger to fish out, being half hidden under lower eyelid.

I got a pair of Oakleys Wind jacket and the rubber rim (that you can remove) stops most of the rain. Works a treat for me
-
• #2746
Do they fit over normal glasses?
-
• #2747
No I'm afraid, Wind Jacket is a bundle of Split Jacket+sealing rim+strap.
They are Oakleys (pricey) but imo a good deal, especially now that you should find them cheaper, as they are going out of production. -

That look like it'll solve the problem of water inside the lens, however does it fog up when you stop at a traffic light?
-
• #2749
This happened just a few times, it usually happens when breathing out from the mouth while stationary, just use the nose for a couple of seconds and all comes back clear.
There must be as well some lens treatment to avoid completely the foggy encounter... not sure tho.
I really like those glasses, the only Oakley that fits my face and they can be used all year long (days and nights). -

Nice normal commute in,apart from the lady at Stockwell tub. Who on squeezing between myself and another cyclist at the lights managed to cycling into the other cyclist then me while pushing off from the lights. An apology would have been nice.
Also finding it difficult to get out of Crystal Palace without hitting some sort of road works, they seem to be everywhere.
You have a CRT monitor? Did someone invent time travel?
