  • had a minor cx adventure on wimbledon common today. slightly shredded knees from not paying attention though

  • looks like mule damage from here

  • thanks a bunch

  • my actual sympathies, just a dumb reference to another thread

  • well thanks a bunch again then )

  • Ooh where on Wimbledon common?

  • well, when i lived in the village, i used to run on it, never saw wombles though, yesterday i started down the part by the golf club entrance and looped around and up and down a few times, i took a few cheeky off cycle path routes as well, rode there a couple of weeks back also, looped the common trail, then went down to the A3 and over the foot bridge, hopping up the steps (a geezer on a canyon behind had to dismount to get up ), and on into richmond park

used to be a great little boozer opposite the dog and fox, slags turned it into a cafe nero
when the flat tenant goes i may move back, the village is missing an idiot

  • After giving it a lot of though I've decided to keep Rychtarski (unless I can sell it for ridiculous money) to make it into commuter/tourer type of build next winter. More like 11 speed 105 build rather than fancy DA. It will hibernate till then.

I need a racebike, a commuter trainer and a nice bike but only have space for 2 bikes so by combining racebike and commuter trainer I get Chinvelo. Principia doesent fit anywhere tbh. Cool points for lighter than CAAD10 alu frame, not gash graphics and lovely anodising.

  • Why isn't the nice bike the race bike?

  • Fear of breaking it .. fm066 is easily replaceable

  • Did not enjoy getting wet this morning.
Seriously, mud guards for a track bike... @edscoble please chime in. Also anyone else with advice... will also UTFS.

  • ^^ Easy. Get rid of the nice bike and you can afford to race better parts.

That Principia is a good find BTW.

  • I am still clearing a the parts cupboard and the garage so I have sorted this out for a friend.

It is an unknow 58cm frameset, BSA BB & headset threading, 26.2mm seatpost and the components were all a mismatch.

I gave the Campagnolo Cobaltos to @Jingle_Jangle and will sell the Record RD, Rigida DP18 wheels & 8 speed freewheel, Stonglight Drilling Chainrings on eBay to pay for the conversion costs.

Work done on this one was new chain, Atom 18T freewheel, 52T chainring & singlespeed bolts, NOS Modolo Speedy brakeset, new brake cables, new bar tape, and respacing of a (shit) singlespeed wheelset).

It doesn't look bad at all and didn't cost much in the end.

    After:

  • missus' single speed freewheel is fucked; is it worth spending £70+ on white ind freewheel? The shimano ones are pretty shite. The other option is Token which is about £52 ..

Would Shimano Alfine FC-S501 crankset work on this? http://www.pedalroom.com/bike/tokyo-fixed-dream-machine-48cm-missus-12151

  • The other option is a £40 Halo Clickster, which won't last quite as long as a WI but much longer than a Shimano.

  • How much riding does she do?

Dicta freewheels are pennies and easy to change when you do your monthly maintenance.

Surely WI's an overkill, unless she rides 100+ miles per week?

    #whatdoIknow

  • She does about 70 miles a week all year round. Its the winter I am worried about. Its the most ignored bike in the household :P

  • With WI you can change the worn part (I think that's called the 'outer gear case'?). I'm not sure any other freewheel allows that.

  • ^^^^ +1 to the clickster, bombproof

  • The only place I know which sells WI spares is CtBM, and he does it by dismantling freewheels, rather than getting packaged spares, so they're not (afaik) returnable.

  • Hello,

What do You think about Wound-up full black fork for Colnago c40 Lampre color shame.

Cant find Colnago star and thinking about this one:

  • @Emyr

Yep. Very reasonable, such a great shop, I'm really glad he's survived peak fixie intact.

  • I think i'll go with Halo in that case ..

  • All the WI stuff comes in through Sideways Cycles (both distributor and retailer).

  • Finally finished this off....now it's off to create space. Sorry to see it go i must say but it's way too small for me.
