Yeah, the 84mm front hub is a problem on those. You have one option and that's it.
I rebuilt my rear with a profile BMX hub spaced out to 120mm and running a 10t driver. Mine is SS 39/10
Since I fixed mine up last I've changed those super-light v brakes for Magura hydraulic rim brakes. The braking is the best I have on any bike anywhere.
