I've wrecked 2 pairs of road racers due to toe overlap (and couldn't fit the rear on my Canyon with 25s), so decided to try some raceblade longs. They were a tiny bit more hassle to fit the clips - but should be a lot easier to remove compared to the zipties for raceblades. They feel so much more sturdy, and just generally better quality. Would recommend.
When I saw the SKS didn't have anything around the front mech area I was planning to bodge my Cruds somehow anyway. That seems alot simpler than what I had in mind!

Also, if you have the road racer, you can use the front third of the rear guard to get full FD coverage, like this:
