  • This.

with electric tape on the frame should keep it secure as well.

  • Pomp all wintered up.
SKS P45 Longboards over 32mm Paselas.

  • p clips work, but not as well

  • Love the bike placement relative to the wall.

  • What's the current preferred option for fitting mudguards to road bikes sans mounts?

Last few winters I've used a set of Crud Road Racers but I've pretty much gone through the plastic now. The SKS Raceblade long looks more substantial, and also looks reasonably removable for the very rare occasion we don't have shitty weather. Worth the extra £8 or so?

  • P-clips, something like the PDW will defintely keep you dry providing you didn't max out the clearance with wider tyres.

  • I did think about p-clips. It's the seemingly simple removal/refit of the blade part of the Raceblades I like, but these things often work a lot better in theory than reality.

Also sadly the PDWs are rather rich for my tastes.

  • I've wrecked 2 pairs of road racers due to toe overlap (and couldn't fit the rear on my Canyon with 25s), so decided to try some raceblade longs. They were a tiny bit more hassle to fit the clips - but should be a lot easier to remove compared to the zipties for raceblades. They feel so much more sturdy, and just generally better quality. Would recommend.

Also, if you have the road racer, you can use the front third of the rear guard to get full FD coverage, like this:

  • thinking of getting some PDWs, currently running 28mm tyres on a steamroller. sounds like i need the 45mm option, but is that going to look really gappy?

like the look of curana c-lites too, having a little trouble finding them. any ideas on the better option?

  • I should have gotten your advise first before investing in some roadracers.

As I have the same problem with my canyon. I have no trouble yet with my 25mm tyres, but it is very tight. But I couldn't fit the last bit that wraps around the seat tube due to the design of the frame's BB design.

  • Front isn't too bad. Though I will take note on the toe overlap.

  • Di2 should be less susceptible to crap making it not work? Maybe?

Oddly enough I don't get any toe overlap on my Canyon, despite it having a shorter wheelbase than my Giant Omniomnomnom. The first one that broke was a long time ago on my Trek Madone, and the most recent one was on my steel hack bike, which has stupid toe overlap :/

  • Got some raceblades as well on the Montello, they fitted, but not sure of their durability or if they will actually work... Brakes to tyre clearance is tooo tight to have some normal sized ones.

  • spenny but classy

    Latt carbon mudguards

  • ^ @JT Nice, V nice, but oh so pricey...

  • big time

  • This is exactly what I wanted to hear.

When I saw the SKS didn't have anything around the front mech area I was planning to bodge my Cruds somehow anyway. That seems alot simpler than what I had in mind!

    Ta very much.

  • It's a steamroller, 35mm will look weird on it.

45mm fit perfectly in the huge clearance.

  • 45mm PDWs & 28mm Schwalbe Duranos.

  • cheers pete, they look very tidy!
^^thanks ed, will get the 45mm's

  • I need some advice people, I'm looking for full wrap around fenders like the PDW's, but for a "track frame" that has a drilled front and rear but no mudguard eyelets and I'm using track axles not QR skewers.

Am I kidding myself that I can get some decent long fenders that will work? Or do I have to come to the realisation that a track frame isn't practical enough to accommodate permanent fenders?

  • Dude just use p-clip, using track axles will be annoying when you get punctured.

  • Perfect, cheers Ed! Just ordered a pair from Ribble, and also landed some straight blade carbon forks with eyelets. I'll be doing a build thread for this new project I think, I'll keep you posted. #comeatmewinter

  • It gonna be so nice having a dry saddle, you mark my word.
