I just bought one of these last week. Quality is as good as any other I've come across, and better than a few. Has a decent sealed tip. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/371131781126
Cheap and dead quick delivery, but one thing to note was that the greys are very differen in the pictures, varying between light and dark. I e-mailed the guy saying I wanted a light one and which of the pictures was accurate. He said it'd be light, but when it arrived it was very dark.Which led to me ordering a light grey one from http://www.watchobsession.co.uk/collections/perlon-watch-straps
Quality just as good, next day delivery and only marginally more expensive.Avoid the ones from RLT. They're shit.

Here they are:
The first one doesn't actually look so loosely woven in reality, I think it's just the angle of the photo and that the strap is a bit compressed. When it's worn it looks like the keeper and area by the buckle.

Tropic starp?
I usually go for genuine NATO straps, or have a leather one which I had made.

I also have regular NATO/Zulu and leather NATOs which I've worn, but I think if going for nylon or NATO style, then the perlon suits the Speedy best for that vintage military feel.

I've just bought one of those from watchobsession. Cheers for the link.

I've recently been getting Swatch lust. There's something about their unpretentiousness, cost and the fact a lot of them just look really nice.

I have previous with these. That 1545 is ok for £200 or so. But be warned that the lume is green, not white, and the print on the dial is silver (not white). It is a much better case than the Steinhart if you want a sub-a-like. You will have to put up with the "homage" issue. The 40mm diameter, and 47mm lug length make a big difference compared to the Steinhart's 42, 50mm dimensions. If Joe was happy with his Goth(tm)mariner, we would have had silence post-purchase, but we do keep hearing about it... (Smilie:))
I'd aim for a 1521, because it's a genuine Squale, which the 1545 isn't. According to a U.K. importer, the 1545 case is Taiwanese, not even 'Swiss breathed-on'. It is used by other 'watch-makers' without the Squale logo. Go figure.

Super. Thanks. Pics look great too.

Thank you very much for that - I knew none of that, so worth noting!
I'm gonna pony up the ca$h for the Steinhart I guess, as it seems the best option - but will be going ceramic bezel and not necking so many pints that I scratch up the strap....

Get a Rhino strap, I love my ones... Tho' the four ring version is too short to set it up 'properly'... ;)
I'm getting a streetgoth version for my GothMariner®...
