Dibs for a friend - just giving him a call now.
If someone else sweeps in with cash in the mean time then that's fine

Sounds like it's a bit big for him.
Lovely looking (and I imagine riding) frame though.

Would you sell the fork separately?

Would you sell the fork separately?
Hi, I'd rather keep it as a frame set for now. I'll PM you if this changes.
Sorry

Just to confirm - the fork and frame serial numbers numbers both match and read '700'

Alec Bird built most if not all of his brothers frames i know Alec quite well through the cycle jumble scene and ive owned a Ken Bird bike the frames are something else in terms of quality and worth keeping hold of and restoring , and will only go up in price so you might well be selling this at a give away price

ah, hadn't I got a Hugh Porter already, I'd be all over this...

Thanks Dolph :)
Sadly time and space are someone else's gain. The price reflects what I paid for it - keep the love in the community.

Are the forks drilled?

As its not a track bike, I guess it must have had brakes. Sorry if this sounds stupid, I'm really just trying to use up my first 3 posts as a newbie!

• #12
could you post the frame? my friend might be interested

No worries! The forks are Drilled for brakes - yes.

Uhhhh......I would, yes but would rather wait a little bit longer for a local buyer. Boxing up and posting is something I'd rather avoid if possible.

Hey. It's dibbed right now. I'll update if it changes. Dave
Ken Bird Frame for sale as part of ongoing clear out.
Not sure of the steel used but it is very light and insanely stiff. Very fine lug lining, Campagnolo professional dropouts and very fine lug lining suggest a decent material.
It was reputedly built by Alec Bird for Ken Bird. Previous owner brought it from Alec who is now a remote control car engineer.
120mm rear spacing. 57cm c-c top tube and 57cm c-c seat tube. 12mm clearance between 23 tyre and rear brake bridge.
Paintwork is OK. Would look great built up as is but would obv benefit from a touch up.
£70
