• The wait is finally over!

  • So this is about to be coming over from California in the next few weeks. I bought this complete but really all I wanted was the frame which measures 58 x58.

I think this is a late 90's or very early naughties Legend. It has the newer CNC'd seat collar but a 1 inch head-tube - luckily it has the original fork which thankfully is threadless.

Pic below is of what the current owner has set-up. Its a bit anti, but with a few changes I think this could pass Go and get straight to Porn.

    Plans for this are:

    • New Group set. Its currently got period correct full Campag Record but I'd prefer to go modern (a la golgol's Serotta Atlanta) - thinking to go for Sram Force 22 although Ultegra 6800 is alot cheaper so maybe persuaded to go for that depending on the hoods.

    • Wheels - Chris King R45's x Archetypea or might go for Hope Mono RS depending on funds (which are severely lacking!)

I'll swap the headset, bars, stem saddle and seatpost; so everything. This will be a slow burner as it's absolutely rinsed my wallet! Can't wait to get this out on the roads.

Does anyone know if you can get 25c's on these?

  • Congrats on the great bike ...
Have the exact same frame (green instead of white) and 25s fit fine.
Enjoy the ride and go full Campa ;)

  • Seriously? Show us a picture!

Funny you say campag, I was just thinking that Centuar Red might look pretty cool with the pearly white.....although that is 10 speed...

  • Keeping the rear view?

  • Absolutely. Can't believe they havent caught on.

  • This is going to be good :) what you thinking for finishing kit? Dare I say thomson might actually look pretty nice on this, especially with modern group

Speaking if which, check eBay, force22 can be had cheap, like, ultegra cheap. I'll pm you some links

  • @sirbikealot cheers!

I've got an Thomson X2 Road stem from my Samson which I'll be moving over to this. So guess a matching post in black would do the trick!

I've seen Force 22 on ribble or Merlin for £580 which seemed pretty good to me. Feel free to share your links though :)

  • nice!
hope you don't get too stung on import charges.
My Ti takes 700 x 27c parigi roubaixs front and rear.
Does this have the Sbend chain stays?
Are you sure that's a threadless fork - looks like a traditional headset to my eyes buy maybe i need glasses

  • ^ 99% that's a 1" threaded headset... Which suggests a threaded fork + ahead adapter.

If the fork is like Dammits and has a steal reynolds stirrer then you might be able to get it converted to thread less pretty easily.

    Lovely frame btw.

  • Very nice frame, I like the robust looking seat stays.

I really rate 6800 but I haven't ridden force22 extensively so can't compare. Think it would look great with 6800 (but I'm a bit biased)

  • PS. What I wouldn't give for that fork. It's even the right colour for mine.

  • @johnnettles2 - The seller has marked the value down on the package, so hopefully i should avoid the full whack on import duties touches wood and touches wood no damage in transit

you and @hugo7 are absolutely tight, this is a threaded steerer with a conversion adapter - as the seller had explained. I think the S-bend stays are a featured on the later Legend models, these look flatter to me - unfortunately the sellers pics aren't great (he's obviously not a photographer!)

There was a NOS '09 Legend on the bay a few months back which has the S stays so assume it was a change they made on the newer frames?

A few more pictures from the seller:

  • It would work seriously well on your atlanta mate! Is your white a pearlescent white or is it flat?

  • CK//H+//DT//Challenge
    for 442 gbp here http://fixie-king.dk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=20106

  • Oh my gawd! Are you a member of that forum? Will the dude ship?

  • I'm a member, he will probably ship, else I can pick them up.
    just a sec...

  • Mine is pearlescent. can't tell from the pics, is yours the same?

  • Great looking frame. Dibs if you ever come to sell it.

  • I guess you sold something of worth to get those wheels ha!

    Proper nice bike that!

  • :D

  • Nice.

    !

  • Haha! i'm on soup for the rest of the week! No more impulses until next month!

  • ^^ would look epic

  • Whats that like £1k retail? Pfff

Has anyone had experience of using an threadless converter?
