Yes, like that - but I think that the BEKs are more interesting than Slenderman because the whole thing about the BEKs is that they're supposed to be real. With Slenderman there's no question that he is and he's supposed to be made-up creepy pasta, but in the case of the BEKs Bethel swore blind that his encounter really happened and that makes it more compelling as a myth.
It's bloody hard to find his original newsgroup posts, too, which means that when somebody googles for BEKs all they find is paranormal sites giving loads of anecdotal evidence of encounters, all billed as non-fiction, so the real origins of the story are almost - but not quite, not just yet - lost in the mists of time.
