I ride about 60% off road and put up with the discomfort and weight of 25c Marathon pluses.
I would rather have sluggish tyres than have to fix flats every other ride. Where I live it is very stoney and even Ribmo's and the like puncture often.
A light fixed track bike actually makes a very fast off road bike as long as you are not planning on any rock garden or mud infested routes.
