How hard you push the pedals matters. Everything else just needs to encourage the hard pushing of pedals.

Wrong on all counts, except I do own an MTB and a road bike. But your post reads a little dismissive of my taste, setup and maintenance routines. Pour quoi? Are you unhappy? Are you trying to make me unhappy?

oops sorry was confused by reply's not quotes... was meant to be in reply to the mtb/mash comment... but even then was meant to be a jokey take on the forum stereotypes not a personal dig...
I'll delete my comment and we'll say no more about it.

Surely riding a bike with smaller wheels means more work over same distance so regardless of weight that would be a benefit?
-
• #2534
Tell that to any Moulton owner.

I'm pretty sure you are the only one that keeps going with that old joke, Oliver.
Could be wrong.

Yeah everyone knows smaller wheels have lower rolling resostance, so are actually easier.
-
• #2539
Actually you're both right, which is why the best thing is to have one huge wheel and one tiny wheel, which is why penny farthings are so popular.
-
• #2540
Does it make any difference if the larger wheel is at the front or back?
-
• #2541
Depends which direction you're cycling in.

The huge dressing has come off my ear, now, which is a relief. On the other hand, the splint has been upgraded to a cast. On the plus side, people are nervous of undertaking me when I'm turning left - could take their head off.

I didn't cycle in today. But I've been back on the bike since Tuesday, yes.
-
• #2549
Erm, Bruce, why are you cycling if you've got your arm in a cast? Take a break. Yes, trains are shit but it's better than doing yourself permanent damage.

Bruce I think it's cool you've cycled while broken... But I'm probably a bit crazy and it's probably best to do the opposite of what I think is cool.
Well, the difference is actually only 7kg, maybe the combined weight of a full bidon, a sturdy lock and a decent lunch, but how does that work then? Not even uphill?
