The huge dressing has come off my ear, now, which is a relief. On the other hand, the splint has been upgraded to a cast. On the plus side, people are nervous of undertaking me when I'm turning left - could take their head off.

Erm, Bruce, why are you cycling if you've got your arm in a cast? Take a break. Yes, trains are shit but it's better than doing yourself permanent damage.
