  • I see. I'm sure I can bust out a qualifying time early in the year. If I was serious about it, of course. After 24hr and/or 12hr, riding the 25 would be a joke and waste of a spot for someone actually trying.

  • Nationals are qualified on best performance since January 1st in the previous year.

Any news of the course for the 25? I would have thought they would try to avoid a 2-lap 25 given how tightly packed the field is likely to be, which only leaves the H25/2

  • And only opens count, I think? Pretty sure someone commented on the TT thread that it would not be the H25/2.

  • And only opens count, I think?

    Yes

  • H25/2 still under threat from traffic lights?

  • No, and it looks like even the widening has now been shelved:

It is not now possible to deliver this scheme by spring 2015, the timeframe set for the Pinch Point Programme. The complexity of the issues identified through local consultation means that we will not take forward any scheme without more development work and additional, wider, consultation with local residents and key stakeholders.

  • TTers who can give me a hand with my ratio? Curently on 85 inch (to small) at the chew valley lake course in bristol (hilly) I did a an average of 24.3 (an average of 95rpm.) I felt the cadence was good. I don't want to go up too much to try and maintain the cadence, but of course want to go as fast as i can. Thinking of going up to either 90 (95 rpm = 25ish) or 93 (around 26) what do people reckon? I also felt i could push more though.

  • as in push a harder gear. But I do enjoy spinning to win, I'm sure the only way is to try out all the ratios but don't want to waste a lot of money.

  • Drop a tooth on the sprocket and give it a try. Important thing with big gears is to keep a lid on it going up hill, however hard it feels. And stay in the saddle.

  • Depends on the hill surely? This lake course has one short steep one that you aint getting up on 100+ without standing up and going mental on it.

  • How steep? Unless you're going less than 16/17mph I reckon you're better off in saddle, but there's not much in the way of steep hills on the TT courses round this way (that I ride, anyway).

  • @Borek have you tried the clevedon tt course? It's dead flat, I think you could smash it with argos chinook!

  • went for 99 in the end 55 15, got that dinner plate

  • I want a 55t. All about the 111'' for 2015.

  • I'm waiting for when I'm feeling monster enough to ride 54x12 (currently my biggest combination). Reckon the U47 would have been perfect for that but I doubt it'll get used again.

  • I have a Campag 55T if it helps, Mr Upside Down :0) Not track tho, 10 spd road.

  • After track I'm afraid, and I don't think I could push a 55t on the road bike! Cheers though.

  • No probs.

If anyone else is interested in it, it also comes with a matching 44T inner. 200 miles tops on them, all done either on a turbo or in a dry TT.

  • There's still time to enter the Hounslow Sporting 27 on 18th October

  • Some nutter is planning on having a crack at Tommy Goodwin's year mileage record (75065 miles)

    https://yacf.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=72564.50

  • 205 miles a day.

At 15 mph average, that's 13h40 per day of riding.

Ain't nobody got time fo' that.

  • Might need to have a chat with @aroogah about this:
