I had a wonderful evening watching both Arsenal and Liverpool in their respective CL games.
I was almost tearful when the Arsenal fans (all locals incidently - yes really) looked so pleased when they won.
They were nearly as pleased as @jaw and I were when Liverpool's campaign appeared to be all gong and no dinner. Captain Slippy put in a positively lacklustre performance and the rest of them looked like a Sunday league team could put them to shame.
Still, at least they have the league and they're always guaranteed 6 points when they play us.
Oh...

Cheeky equalizer from Eto’o and a cracking result for Everton in a tough away tie in Russia.

Harry Kane with another goal, top scorer! Growing in confidence.
We look solid without being super threatening.
Soldado still looks out of sorts, he hasn't had near enough touches of the ball.
The teams set up not to concede though we've had a couple of close shaves.
Could be more goals in the second half. -

Corny, two questions.
What idiot would setup a team to concede?
How is any team with Chiriches in it set up not to concede?

^ I'll be predicting the lottery numbers for Saturdays draw tomorrow night.

Fucking Spurs. Chiriches is a proper wanker.
Im going to call it, get rid of that saints bellend. Its time for Martin Jol's triumphant return. He will lead the team to greatness (or fatness if the stories of cakes are true).

Mario seems to do just enough to get by and his body language
stinks. So when he skies a shot into L8, there's no sense of
disappointment or self criticism- especially when there are two free
players either side waiting for the pass.He doesn't spend anywhere near enough time in the box- like he's
trying to prove how soccer amazeballs he is (a la Rooney).Given his predecessor's constant movement on the last defender's
shoulder as well as harrying their keeper and center backs, Suarez's
thirst was incredibly infectious to the rest of the team. In
comparison MB is painfully static- its becoming virulent to those
around him.
All of this this makes it easy to target him but the person that needs to be sweating is Brendan. His transfer market rep looks shoddy thus far. Plus trying to play the same football sans the specialist personnel leaves us looking toothless.
@Tim: Be disappointed if you get nothing this weekend.

Did we watch the same game corny? Besiktas bossed us... We looked mediocre at best.

God bless Demba Ba...

The step up from mid table teams or even top 10 to top 4 is a huge gulf and clearly only very few managers have the quality for it. As soon as it came to BR rebuilding his own team, things seem to be falling apart.
I fear for the day Wenger retires/leaves but I know it has to/will come soon.

@underscoredan, whose name won't hyperlink.
We did watch the same game, Besiktas had the better chances, by a long chalk, but we'd hung on for so long, Chiriches mistake felt like a sucker punch to a game that we should have stolen.
The Pooch made substitutions to go on and score more goals and secure the game, but felt like we should have started like that with Lennon on the wing and Dembele in the centre of the park. Felt a bit back to front.
And Chiriches needs to muscle up, too easily got knocked off the ball. Best player was Lloris who made a raft of saves, and we didn't nearly kick on after the goal, a couple of chances on the break that we failed to take. -

How can you say we looked solid when the standout performance was by our goalkeeper?
-
• #111172
@underscoredan, I've decided you're just the pessimist in our midst, turning into a shorter (in length) but equal dogmatic version of the wheezy jeezy.
If you want to just piss and moan about how ineffectual we were, or how none of the money we've spent on players seems to be coming to fruition, or how we've no hope of winning anything in your lifetime then please carry on.
That doesn't mean I'm going to join you, we played decently, didn't set the group on fire, I fear for us in Turkey, but we didn't get beat, our second string played well enough and I can look forward to the southampton game on the weekend not being shown on sky or bt so I can have sunday to myself, thinking of doing ROTFL, don't have to head to the pub and can catch the edited good bits on motd2.Keep on swimming through the pessimistic soup if you want, I'm not joining you, its early days in the season, players will come on, the team will find its shape and the Pooch will start us moving forward in a pressing Bielsaesque style and we will sweep all before us*
*thats optimism for you..
