Power2max classic and praxis rings turned up yesterday - now to get the bloody spider off the rotor cranks so I can fit it....
I took the lock ring off then used my vice as a press to gently push the spider off- it's bonded on, so takes a bit of oomph to persuade it off.

Actually very interesting.

Paligap got back to me at last - torque tube is borked, £340 to fix it.

ouch

There was a press release a while ago about that. Dunno where.
-
• #2807
Not as ouch as it used to be.

Which hub was it?

Wasn't it due sometime last year? Sick of using Training Peaks.. not about to start running parallels on my mac and pay for 3.0 when 4.0 is already 12 months late.

I've been using WKO3 for years - it does what I need. Does it not run on a Mac?
-
• #2811
No.

SL+ which will now have G3 internals, so my LYC is junk now also.
-
• #2813
Is it ANT+? I'll take it off your hands - one of mine hit the deck descending and half the crystals are gone.
-
• #2814
Private ANT possibly? Works "up to" G3 model.

Managed to get the lockring off after pouring boiling water over it and the spider - seems to have done the trick in removing the threadlock bond.
Spider came off without too much fuss.power2max install was pretty simple, slightly annoying that the outer ring only fits on when the crank isn't attached - but I hope not to have to change the (fancy praxis works) rings too often...
Need to work out what metrics I should be looking at and do more reading up. What is generally useful to have displayed on your garmin? For my ride in this morning I just selected the basic "power".... seem to recall the 3s or 10s is better as it smooths it out?

I am in early stages too .. I presume you have read/are reading coggan's book (?)
I currently use % of FTP, HR and Cadence.

Did it ever talk to a Garmin? If so then it's an ANT+ one. If you HAD to use a LYC then it's the older style.

Aren't you supposed to be collecting that book from me? Someone was.. #flyingmonkeydeathsquad

Depends what you're doing - road racing lower avg, tting higher avg. That being said I generally leave 3s or 10s as my main one and 30s on another screen. I now run two pages of info but often change fields on the fly because I'm doing something different, ie. distance to destination if I'm on an actual course vs. total distance if I'm doing a 12hr/24hr.
-
• #2820
3s is most useful I find
-
• #2821
I like to use 3s. Especially if I'm on the trainerroad.
-
• #2822
I use 1s power when racing, find it stops me spiking. Also have lap (2.5mile) average power, speed, elapsed time and distance on the screen.

I gave up and read on Kindle ..
-
• #2824
Whats the approach behind 3s or 1s power information on screen?

You dick.
"No, you can get your lazy arse out west. Last time I carried it in it sat in the office for a year. Okay, maybe from Liverpool Street if I'm feeling generous one day."
That's twice I've fucking carried it in here so someone can leave me with it.
