• Power2max classic and praxis rings turned up yesterday - now to get the bloody spider off the rotor cranks so I can fit it....

I took the lock ring off then used my vice as a press to gently push the spider off- it's bonded on, so takes a bit of oomph to persuade it off.

  • Managed to get the lockring off after pouring boiling water over it and the spider - seems to have done the trick in removing the threadlock bond.
Spider came off without too much fuss.

power2max install was pretty simple, slightly annoying that the outer ring only fits on when the crank isn't attached - but I hope not to have to change the (fancy praxis works) rings too often...

Need to work out what metrics I should be looking at and do more reading up. What is generally useful to have displayed on your garmin? For my ride in this morning I just selected the basic "power".... seem to recall the 3s or 10s is better as it smooths it out?

  • I am in early stages too .. I presume you have read/are reading coggan's book (?)

I currently use % of FTP, HR and Cadence.

  • Depends what you're doing - road racing lower avg, tting higher avg. That being said I generally leave 3s or 10s as my main one and 30s on another screen. I now run two pages of info but often change fields on the fly because I'm doing something different, ie. distance to destination if I'm on an actual course vs. total distance if I'm doing a 12hr/24hr.
