  • Really like this, SWOBO SCOFFLAW £999;

    frame is basically a very expensive Pompino, but with tapered steerer, 11 speed ready hubs (it got spacer for singlespeed)

    The facts:

    Frame: TIG welded Reynolds 853
    Rear Spacing: 135mm
    Fork: Straight blade carbon / disc brake / Tapered 1.5-1 1/8" steerer
    Headset: Cane Creek 40 / Cartridge bearing / Tapered
    Wheels: A-Class CXD-5 / SS spacer kit / 18 tooth single cog
    Tires: Kenda Small Block 8 / 700 x 35c
    Brakes / Levers: Avid BB7S road mechanical disc / SRAM S500
    Crankset: SRAM Rival w/GXP BB / 42 tooth Race Face narrow-wide ring
    Bars / Stem / Seatpost: Swobo branded alloy
    Bar Tape / Saddle: Swobo branded

  • Will it be available in the UK though, Ed? Swobo are taking pre-orders for January delivery in the US, and Charlie the Bikemonger is, I think, the UK importer for Swobo, but will he bring it in?

    The trouble is, SSCX is a niche within a niche, and no-one is prepared to risk bringing bikes into the UK market in case it fails. You'd think, given how many Pompinos On-One sell, that someone would chance it.

    Raleigh are a case in point, at the Cycle Show last week they were showing an aluminium SSCX frame, with discs and a belt drive, but don't yet plan to bring it to market here, but are gauging demand instead. If there is enough, they might take a chance.
