I did the Neville Chanin memorial 'Over the Severn' back in August and it was the best audax I've ever done, absolutely beautiful and the hills never felt gratuitous (widely known to be north of 3000m, ignore the Strava elevation, it's definitely wrong). Had been meaning to mention it in this thread. I had a very warm welcome from the Evesham Wheelers who run it and it was ridiculously pretty.
The ride obviously means a lot to them, Neville was their former President and a bit of a legend.
Members of the Cyclists Touring Club, heard that Neville, 74, from Stroud, was on his bike the day before his death on April 17.
"His final mileage was 645,434," said Anton Newell, from Moreton-in-Marsh, who gave the eulogy at the service at Gloucester Crematorium on Friday.
