@sacredhart I can't answer all of your questions but generally I'd avoid turn-by-turn navigating with Garmin. once you miss a turn it starts recalculating and that takes a lot of time. best to just load a gpx, choose your map display settings and follow the line of the track. you cannot do this with a 510, that one has no map display
[edit: woops, hadn't looked at thread for a couple of days, answer obsolete]

That is exactly what I do now, with off course warnings you will soon know if you are off track. The re navigation thing drives me insane!

For clarity: Pseudo turn-by-turn tcx works excellent on 200/500.

I knocked my bike on the rollers and have somehow broken one of the flanges that holds my 500 in the mount. I've tried araldite but it didn't hold. Anyone have any ideas apart from rubber bands or glueing it to a mount?
the flange on the backside of the Garmin is broken, not the mount. -

I'm still confused.
Garmin 500.
What file format is best?
Gpx?
Does that give me the line to follow?
Apologies I'm an ape. (was going to say Luddite but apparently they weren't really technophobes just tactical unionists protecting their jobs according to an article I read the other day.) -

You can disable recalculations or make it prompt to recalculate. Turn by turn means you're less likely to miss turns in the first place, that's the point. It also means you don't have to stare at a line on the unit.

stare at stem = look pro, isn't that the point?
you're probably right but I'm stupid and using that I missed a couple of turns (especially when there's a 5 road junction and the turn you should make isn't 90 deg) on my 705 which took even longer to recalculate, so I never bothered with it on my 800. Line is fine for me, zoom to 50m and never miss a turn.

No response from the Handtec Returns department so I emailed them and now they've just replied with
"I am sorry to hear of the issue. I advise you to contact Garmin regarding the matter as this is a faster and cost effective method. If they are unable to assist you, kindly contact us. "
What the actual fuck? These batteries are shit house compared to my old one. Anyone have a handy sale of goods act I can wave at them?
They were ordered on Sep 1 or 2nd - how long do you get with distance selling to demand a full refund because goods aren't as advertised?

Garmin. Wristwatch for running.
Which one does HR? Which one can I pick up for cheap? -

Only one pro does that and Froome is certainly not renowned for his style on or off the bike.

Garmin are going to send me one as goodwill. So, thumbs up to Garmin!
But I still have to sort the original order with Handtec.

I want to be able to record where I've gone, how far I've run, and whether my heart is still beating.
