  • Brickworks and the Cat and Fiddle are not meant for fixed. Doable, but your knees will explode at some point in the future.

  • I was thinking more the Wednesday Cheshire flat ride. I do understand that they have to take safety into account though.

  • Good seeing you again @rhb . a good start on the bmx track at least. Set me up for a day of meetings :)

  • Spotted Vinnie this morning. Gave a hearty shout of "VIIIINIIIIIIEEEE" and everyone but him turned to look at me. #cringe

  • So did we meet on Sunday?
I was the slow dude on the caad10... =]

  • Yeah, i was on the pinkish fixed.

@fgf personally i don't really understand the ruling, if you are running a brake and can keep up safely then i can't really see the issue. But Rulez is Rulez. I got away with it this weekend as the Club isn't open yet. Will be on the geared going forwards though.

  • I can't play at all because I dont have (and cant afford right now) a geared bike.

Shame really because it looks fun.

  • Ha, there is a front brake on there so I don't need to worry about the skids too much. Also, realised I miscalculated; was only 94".

  • Ah, damn good effort up the hills then! I've sorted my front mech now... You found yourself a new chainring bolt?

  • No, i'd forgotten about that, should sort before i am also missing an ankle.

  • Flip the flop and fit the other brake?

  • eh? fixed/fixed brakeless.

unless you're talking about the Pomp in which case thats no good for a road ride, I'd be the super slow one at the back.

  • Have you seen some of the guys that squeeze into rapha stuff? I'm sure you'll keep up fine.

  • Ha haha sorry Dennis i have done that before an you feel like a reeet pencil hahaha!

Rapha rides are roadbike only (good excuse to get a roadbike) should be doing some faster ones once the club is open too! we have loads of plans for challenges and all sorts so its going to be pretty cool! ^^^ and yes some people do squeeze into rapha stuff but thats cycling for you hahah think men in lycra in general tbh but all the more reason to ride more... so your clothes gradually fit you! the club rides at the moment are 'social pace' so all abilities are welcome but it will be changed up soon!

furthermore if anyone needs a chainring bolt/bolts i have many dotted around my house...

on the side of spotting... i saw Dennis the other day riding down the side of edinburgh bike co, and a asian looking fella on a black and white cinelli fixed thin he had a aerospak?? he looked i nodded but thats it haha saw a guy on a blue pompino too the other day he was gunning it down oxford road i think! and i saw rich major on the Harry Hall shop Brompton looking cool as a cucumber with sunglasses on through st Annes square!

  • Spotted Viny and the Rapha boys having a break in Alderley Edge (nice to meet you Viny). Looking forward to joining some rides - see you on Thursday evening.

  • Who's on the rasta coloured vigorelli with hoods setup? looks fun to ride.

  • @aquatic on F'loop this morning? Realised it may have been you too late to say hi (great to meet you on Monday by the way!). Was stuffing mouth with toast at the time.

  • Yeh good to meet you too. Super quick pass this morning - I also realised way too late to acknowledge.

  • This might not be there very long.

  • "Rapha rides are roadbike only"

well.. my bike is a road bike, (as opposed to a track bike, a mountain bike, etc.) it's just only got one gear.. It just seems a bit odd having more requirements on people's equipment than road-worthyness, can't really see a justification for it but then I'm not the kind of guy who'd go on a Rapha ride to start with so horses for courses I suppose.

  • Red light jumping ped being knocked over by an old polish dude setting off at the picadilly station crossroad light as they changed to green... Spoke to him further up the road and he said it was the second time someone had walked out in front of him..! #theyshouldallwearhelmets

  • @Dangeruss running reds killing peds !!

  • not a geared road bike then, so can't go on geared road bike rides.

I can't go riding mountain bike trails with my track bike but I'm not moaning about it.

  • I raise you Sylwia tackling* the Pennine Bridleway on her Steamroller...

I agree with @judenonesuch, there are plenty of fixed-gear audaxers who can hold their own on a road ride, but I suppose it's easier for Rapha not having to check people's credentials for group riding, pace and assume all roadies know what they're doing...

*photo of her pushing because she was riding down the descents faster than I could get the camera out!
