Nice one. I know it is a stonking deal. But I really wanted the edelux. Aesthetics driven :-) I figure I'm allowed one non-vulcan choice on the build!
-
• #378
Anyway, you off touring on it?
-
• #379
yeah the edelux looks much nicer-I was seduced by the ability to charge my stuff without forking out for a separate charger though.
The wide rim/dynamo makes for a solid wheel eh? Probably the heaviest wheel I've ever wheeled upon.
hopefully away touring yes... nothing exciting, just a couple of days before my course starts next week i reckon, up to Aviemore and back around via some lochs. I'd wanted to go up to Skye/Harris but i don't know if I'll have time and I've still got a few bits of kit to sort out!

I have some with silver blades but I could rattle can them for you if you want ;)
-
• #381
Meantime if anyone knows a source for tektro RL520 levers in black/black for maximum stealth points, do shout!
Condor have them, but with their branding. I have them on my CC.

• #382
Excellent, thank you.
-
• #383
Using the same on my Pompetamine. You'll need an extra long 5mm to fit them. A standard one is unlikely to work. I had to use the long end of an allen set similar to these

Wheels will soon be done. Just got tk order spokes and drop them off with the builder. A new set of bars and some fat inner tubes just arrived too.

• #386
How's that front light holding up for you? Edelux are still out of stock at sjs so my mind has wandered back to maybe getting the b&m. I've heard its not so reliable in the rain though.

• #387
I have a Supernova E3 Pro front+rear set up I bought of Jammy a few months back, haven't ended up using it since picking up the Revo. Selling it on with a good fellow-Cross Check-rider discount if you're interested...

The edelux were on offer at Spa Cycles, maybe worth giving them a shout?
I've only used the B+M a couple of times as I now need a new BB because chainline/barends/shiftingnightmare but was pretty awesome-I went along an unlit cycle path to the nearest pub a few miles away and the difference between battery operated regular LED cree style lights and the flood/intensity you get from the dynamo is fantastic, felt like it could have been a motorbike headlight so I'm happy and it will charge all my gubbins too :D
Not heard anything about water ingress-the only thing I don't like is the plastic case and the metal bracket to mount it to the frame feels a bit vulnerable. I'm pretty sure if there was a crash or any kind of lateral impact it would just sheer off where the mount joins the plastic.

I've PM'd you...

• #390
yeah SJS have the first edition on offer too... I should have clarified I'm planning on the edelux 2 since it looks to have a better shaped beam and a bit more brightness. Spa might have the newer ones in too, though - I'll have a look.
Thanks for the feedback on the B&M. Glad it's working out for you. I can't remember where I read about the water ingress issues. One of the many forum threads or blog posts out there I guess; it wasn't 'on here'. Hopefully it's something that was a one-off issue, or has been fixed.

Just caved; I can't stand my own faffing about anymore. Found a stockist of the edelux 2 in Germany and got going.
The following has been bought:

Now I just need to choose mudguards and I'm all set.
(Probably Bluemels)

• #393
It gonna be so nice not having to charge your light every now and then.
the auto sensor on the light is a nice little godsend when you go through tunnel/bridges.
-
• #394
Tell me about it! I'm currently using a hope vision 1 which needs new batteries pretty much evey ride.
-
• #395
Really? I usually milk a month of every use with the vision 1 at the lowest brightness.
Unless you rode entirely in darkness, then ignore this.
-
• #396
Yeah I'm.only using it for fully dark rides in rural Kent. It tends to manage about 4-5 hours at full beam, which isn't quite two rides.
The low intensity setting is great in town but not enough in the countryside proper.
-
• #397
Can understand that, I usually run low in the rural, with the drawback of having to ride a lots slower to compensate.
Keep the Hope Vision 1 on anyway, it can prove itself to be a worthy back-up if you says, got a puncture, or need a bit more lighting.

I'm probably selling a 56cm crosscheck frame as I've acquired a similar frame with a better top tube length. Is anyone interested before I make an ad? Brand new FSA Orbit headset installed, uncut steerer and with a tektro rear brake cable hanger. Dent on top tube, but not out of true or anything. Looking for £175 posted (what I paid).
-
• #399
I'd be interested...probably depending on the size of the dent though. Got a photo?

Good to see that you didn't buy the mini vees. I had a set on my Kaffenback, but due to problems with clearance changed them for the LX . The difference in quality between the two system was enormous. The mini vees were ok but not much better than decent cantilevers..
I just got the SP-8 laced to Sputnik rim with B+M lights/gubbins for £240 all in from Spa Cycles... best deal around by far and unlike the edelux can be used to charge your smartphone/gps via USB too. Ordered on Wednesday and delivered today-pretty chuffed!
