If you have it just threaded straight through the rings or are using an 'RAF' style strap without that second strap section, then as the strap is pulled tight, it tries to straighten out rather than follow the bendy path through the springbars/case back, iyswim. This pulls the bars down from the case and potentially can pop them out.
