  • I'm looking for a micro stereo with no tuner, basically a CD player with two independent speakers plus usb and 3.5mm jack input, any ideas?

  • any old hi-fi speaker with a vamp is good combo

  • Bought one of those Cambridge Minx Go blueraytoothMPHi-Fiipodathons today, on strength of reviews

  • Did you find one under £100?

  • Richer Sounds, £99

  • I just received this:

    A KitSound™ Hive Bluetooth speaker.

It is solid and has a great bass sound. I strapped it to my bike and can ride with sounds played from my mobile.

I got it free from Vodafone with points for topping up.

Costs between 40 and 50 quid

  • Anybody here ride with their speakers?

I had a couple of cheap eBay ones last summer but they became intermittent when they got a little bump or splash, having used my uncles shoqbox 7200 before on the beach and letting him know how much I loved it :) he offered to send one over to me.

I can't wait for it to arrive so I can make everyone suffer with my rad toooons again.

  • none of them. they all suck

  • I recently bought a mini-rig and couldn't be happier, sound quality is great and I will be buying another one and their sub woofer in the near future.

  • bump looking for NON BLUETOOTH portable speakers
any people bought some of these speakers recently ? any reviews of what you have bought ?
as per some posts above i am looking for a wired connection, set of portable speakers to sit out in a park with a few tunes playing
not keen on the blue tooth idea as the mp3 player will never be too far away from speakers i may as well get a wired / better connection for better sound quality

  • A minirig http://minirigs.co.uk/ is the best I've used.

  • I have one of the X-mini Uno speakers. Pretty good sound for small ting. Bass not bad either.

  • Anyone got/recommend a good portable bluetooth speaker that I can attach to a my handlebars?

  • eb
what did you make of the cambridge ?
    sound quality ok ?
like you say from strength of the reviews it looks like a winner

  • just PM'd you - it is pretty good, kicks out a decent sound for it's size - so much so it turns itself around on it's slide out 'foot'! Bluetooth can drop out though so was looking at something like this to use it over WIFI

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Veetop%C2%AE-HiFi-AirMusic-Box-Streaming-BLACK/dp/B00JKD09B8/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1412089982&sr=1-1&keywords=airplay+adapter

  • The loewe speaker2go beats the cambridge audio minx hands down, but is twice as much ££... if you could/want to afford it, it's well worth the extra

  • so took the plunge today ... listened to bose a couple of cambridge models and eventually came away with the denon envaya
sounded the best and the sound carried the furthest ( louder )

listening to some high quality audio samples on line and it sounds great
10hr battery life out in the field, wired connection, weight 1.3kg
makes a good speaker for the pc, radio 4 and 3 sounding pretty good through it

    so far so good

  • My parents very generously bought me a Bose sound link mini for my birthday last week, I have to say it sounds incredible for something so small to my ears! Bluetooth & wired connections, claimed battery life seems good (we'll see), reassuring weight whilst not being too heavy. Would definitely recommend.

  • Yup...another one for the bose mini. Amazing sound for the size. Excellent battery. Very easy to use. Not silly money. Recommend also getting one of their covers for protection and extra steez.

  • The mother-in-law wants to buy us a bluetooth speaker as wedding gift. Ive been googling reviews but have no real idea.

Is the Bose Sound Link Mini still recommened 3 years on? Looks like the UE Boom 2 gets better reviews than the Bose mini and a similar price point.

  • I can't compare the two but I have a Bose i bought secondhand from top forummer(?) @ObiWomKenobi and it is awesome. Battery lasts ages, Bluetooth and aux options, brilliant sound. It's fantastic. I have the rubber cover/case it feels really robust.

  • UE Boom 2 also stellar. Mine has taken everything life has thrown at it, is reliable, battery life is good, sounds good. Were it to always live in the house I'd have been tempted by the Bose, but I have used mine to work out, ride, picnic, beach, pool etc. It's been dropped, soaked, stormed upon, muddied and hosed down, and still functions and sounds great. As far as consumer electronics go, UE really nailed it, I actively recommend it to people at any chance I get.

  • If you want the last word this guy does full nerd mode reviews, he uses binaural microphones so you can hear the difference between speakers and compare for yourself. clavinetjunkie

  • I brought a super-cheap Amazon basics one, and then didn't cry when I drop-kicked it the first weekend I had it. Three years ago, it made a big difference which one you brought, but these days even the cheaper ones are... if not great, decent (ish). If the MiL wants to buy you something nice, and you really want a bluetooth speaker, UE or Bose are good. On the other hand, if she just wants to throw money at you, maybe go out for a nice meal, or a gig. The price difference between a cheap no-name duffbox and a balls-out speakerboxxx can be about the same price as a sit-down tasting menu for two.
