Brakeless shit nugget this morning, racing me up the inside into traffic, preventing me from passing, jumping all the lights, riding into oncoming traffic, and telling me off for apparently passing too close, which I didn't.
You sir are a cunt, and I hope darwin strikes you soon.
Oh, and I gave you the benefit of the doubt with that that spit towards my front wheel was unintentional. If you do that again, I will put you on the deck.
Rant over

Pulled up at some lights behind a guy on a hybrid this morning and noticed that his rear qr was open. Was about to say something when he pulls his phone out and starts talking to someone, he then pulls away and wobbles across the junction one handed. Can't be bothered for idiots today.

Waiting to turn left at a red light with my arm out, indicating. I hear a whistle from behind and turn to see a prat on a MTB shoot up the inside and straight through the red light shouting "move your arm!"

I'm calling out the arsehole in a Penge Jersey who swore at my wife for being in the middle of a single track road slowly descending (which she hates).
No need.

If you saw that viral 'crap cyclists' video which was doing the rounds a while ago then you will have seen how crap the cycling is in York (filmed here), but even after 7 months I am regularly surprised by the utter, utter, dogs hit cycling on display.
Things that I see every day:
Red light jumping nodders,
'Fixie' riders, brakeless without foot retention (it's more rare to see bikes with foot retention than without...),
And the worst thing, which has encouraged me to post here...Families riding on the pavement.
York is VERY well set up for cycling. It's possible to get many places on closed cycle lanes, and other places on roadside cycle lanes. Far, far better than any other UK city. And yet Every. Single. Day. I see families riding on busy pavements.
It's as if the parents don't realise that teaching their precious snowflake that riding on the pavement is ok is feeding the anti-cyclist sentiment that leads to road rage against law abiding bike users.
It infuriates me that these people are being so fucking selfish, and I say that as a parent. If I go for a ride with my son in the future and we need to use a busy stretch of road then we will get off and fucking walk.
Cunts.Sorry. Long day of people swerving round the pram that I was pushing on a fucking pavement.

You know it's legal for children to ride on the pavement, right?

Lols
Oh and the police turn a blind eye to parents cycling with their children on the pavement in my experience too...
-

Everyone ride on pavement, especially the parents.
They treat it like a cycle path, to be fair, one told me that it's too much of an inconvenience to ride on the road while their toddler is on the pavement, so they join them.

It's not really legal.
But since kids can't be prosecuted it may as well be.
My kids ride on the pavement where the road is too busy and the pavement is quiet enough. So far they haven't killed anyone. If they ever come to York I will make sure they carefully bunny hop your pram and keep your precious snowflake safe.

It is legal until the child is 11 years old.

Uh-oh, better watch out for those dogs when I'm next in York. :)

Really? On proper bikes (without stabilisers)? Didn't know this. Still not OK for the parents though.
Toddlers I get, but kids going a fair nip on actual, proper bikes is stupid. The worst part is that we're very lucky to live in a city with lots of cycle paths and there's really no need for it!

I suppose it depends what 'quiet enough' means. There are lots of shared use pavements near me and people get along fine. I've seen whole families (with teenage children) forcing pedestrians into the road by riding over narrow bridge paths before though.

Clamp the kids and crush the parents or something.

Do tell us more of this, Edscoble QC...

Age of criminal responsibility innit?
-
• #10698
That's not quite the same thing though, is it.
-
• #10699
Tell that to the parents.

The age of criminal responsibility is 10. Fixed penalty notices can't be given to anyone under 16. Home Office guidance is that only dangerous cycling on footways should receive a penalty (this, obviously, is not always adhered to).
Nothing but Uhu will do.
