Subtle changes, bugs and feedback

  • Can't upload a pic from phone. Keeps giving me error page.

  • No one else will probably care as I seem to be the only one using a BB10 device here, but I was able to successfully sign in from it today!
I used the Dev setting to request Desktop mode.
The site and Persona pages still showed up in mobile guise, so not actually so sure that trick of mine actually did the trick. But for future reference if you happen to use a BB10 device and have troubles signing in Persona, do try the Desktop mode.

  • If i remember correctly it used to cache searches, but not the old today page or forum pages.

maybe you just need to read faster?

(alternatively, use a browser that caches the pages and then go backwards and forwards to cache them?)

@goonz are you sure the file is smaller than 3 meg?

I had a similar thing with a 3.01 meg file... would be nice if the error message was a bit more helpful?

  • ^yep did a quick check and its 2.4mb so unless there are any other size restrictions such as pixels it should be ok? Not working on the laptop either. I assume its an issue with the pic otherwise it would not let me post at all?

  • menu at the bottom of the screen (...) looks a bit more like a last minute addition now..

Yea like I said I'm happy to have one in the first place by now, though it does look ugly / cramped the way it is now.
Actually it looks like the "real" menu didn't load properly, and textlinks are being displayed instead.
Sorry, I realise this board has bigger issues to take care of right now; just sayin'...

  • What format is the image?

All should be fine, but there are some edge cases where there's not a lot we can do. Notably things like progressive PNGs that use an alpha, some animated PNGs, and the more esoteric palettes in GIF files can cause issues.

  • Taken with an iPhone so no idea of format?

  • Weird. Could you send it to me david@lfgss.com, I'll test it later on.

  • Is the server slow or something? Kept getting timed out several time.

  • The server's just busy trying to put on some Randos.

  • Did someone say hug??? Awesome!

  • Surely the links list at the bottom of the page having changed into a bullet list is a mistake?

  • It may seem a bit weird, but can we make locked threads followable? There are a few in the polo forum that are posted to by moderators, so there can be more posts and changes to it.

(unless it's a bug, in which case I can't follow the locked thread in the LPC forum)

  • ...haven't seen the CF "borked" page the last couple of days, but whole forum is so slow it's barely useable.
Like four out of five pages take ages to load / don't load at all.

  • I'm having the same issue on desktop (windows 7, chrome) and mobile (iphone 4)

  • Looks like many people are struggling to upload pics...

  • I've just had to enter a captcha on a Cloud Flare page to get to the homepage from a bookmark...

  • Let me know if you're still seeing timeout issues. Having ruled pretty much everything else out, I disabled CF on the API.

If that really has fixed it, I might finally crack.

  • CF thinks you might be a robot. Obviously that's rubbish. Was it any particular page?

  • (Attachments are definitely broken, which is surprising as that code hasn't been touched recently. David is looking at it)

  • Seems to have vastly improved page load times for me....

  • It was the homepage (http://www.lfgss.com) via a bookmark in Chrome 34 on Windows 7.

We're experiencing some issues with our internet in the office at the moment. Could that have triggered it?

It's happened again since, just now, when trying to move from the homepage to my following page.

  • Yea like I said I'm happy to have one in the first place by now, though it does look ugly / cramped the way it is now.

on the mobile it comes up as a set of bullet pointed links, on desktop it comes up like this.

  • Quite possibly - the checks against automated attacks probably look for protocol trickery, which in some cases will be difficult to distinguish from a flaky client.

If it happens on a different network connection, we should probably raise it with CF.

  • I'm cautiously optimistic that removing CF and restarting the load balancer was the fix, but it'll take a few hours to know for sure.
