Take it to your LBS and have them ream the seat tube to match the specs. There could be anything down there - leftover brass or other schmutz, or possibly even a slight bend that constricts the tube enough to stop the post.

you could always email pierreplum@skynet.be and ask. he was very friendly and chuffed that I had one of his plums in my possession

Got this with nearly complete 6400 shimano, 531 reynolds and concorde fork for 200 euros, changed seatpost i had in parts shelf and borrowed flite from beater.

After few test rides, updated to compact bars and ahead stem, also from shelf.

Bar position test: too long.

What ended up as an intended cheap track only build ended up £300 later and this

Arione coming this week and some track drops (though may keep compacts).

That saddle to bar drop is totally unworkable so probably flipping the stem. I know it looks 'pro' flipped but I can't get over how wrong it seems.

7.2kg as is.

When I think about it, £300 isn't too bad. Definitely can't afford it though...

Anyone want a wing TT seatpost? Bout 2cm too long for my legs.

I bought the track drops off here before building it up... Silly move. I have quite large hands and would like a range of positions, Piegas are a bit small for my hands.
Main reason was width. I'm trying to push below 40cm Ctc (which new drops are) and Piegas don't come in that. Plus, 26mm clamp size limits my stem options. I may just get some RHM01 (Dolan do 38cm Ctc) if I don't get on with track drops.
I'll experiment with stem lengths and work out a compromise between aero and actually being able to breathe properly.

Just seen that piega do come in 38cm... Interesting.

No point in bars that I can't use and breathe properly though. Trend with pros seems to be deep drop (Team GB used Nitto B123 at 2012) with positive stems. As ugly as that looks, if it works for them...

I'm getting Pro Vibe 7s which aren't actually that deep, so it may work.

Can't help but thinking a few spacers and a negative drop stem will look better than no spacers and inverted stem. Why do pros go for the latter over the former? Presumably there's a reason...

I'd just use compacts on the streets but that's just me. Never have really liked track drops so bit biased really.

Track drops can fuck off for 99% of people.

Tried pista bars a couple of years ago on the track and hated them. Ended up using criteriums for everything, including my limited track time.

Now that I'm planning to get 'serious' about the track as I have one on my doorstep I thought I'd give them another go. As i said, I don't think the Pro 7s are that deep (compared to the 26mm 'pista' offerings) but might give me more hand room on the drops, something which I struggle with with compacts as I have quite broad hands.
I know track champs used to be sold with rotundos, but they don't make them narrow enough plus $$$$ compared to RHM01 or 02.
I'm up at the velodrome on Tuesday so will see how it goes, but it feels ok right now, despite the reach going from 60 or so cm on all my road bikes to 55 on this.

Pro 7s are really shallow for track drops and have quite flat tops, which is good for a resting position during training. I enjoyed using them before giving into carbon and buying Scatto's.

Picked up this Diamant cyclocross frameset. Pretty nice with a Max top tube and Max chainstays. Think I'll go with a more modern build, probably sram.
