    I bought one of those little shimano chainwheel bolt tools . I was surprised by how small and epically shit it was. It was useless for getting them out if they are really tight and/or corroded.
    I resorted to a fucking big screwdriver which did the job.

    The T-bar tool is much better, mine is by Cyclus but others are available. Best to use with a T-handle Allen key on the other side so your hands are working in coordination.

    Better still to bin the slotted nuts and get the double Allen key ones. Doubtless SRAM put the shit ones on the S300 to provide a way to up-sell you to something better, as they can only save a few cents and their good cranks have had the double Allen key ones for years.

  • Yep, got the Cyclus one too after years of frustration with the Shimano version. Still a niggle to work with - as tester says, get the hex replacements.
