You could always just use Dropbox.

Now that the new iPhone is out are we expecting a deluge of new android handsets? My HTC one (m7) is due for an upgrade and I'm wondering whether to hang on for a bit or just get the m8.

A new Nexus tablet was leaked/announced todaym the Nexus 9 will be made by HTC.
A new Nexus phone has been rumoured, but there have been rumours of multiple flagship Android phones in the works and the death of the Nexus brand too (though that's clearly not the case with the N9 just mentioned).
But anyhow... it's pre-Christmas, all the new phones will be launched October > November.
If you're waiting for a flagship, hold on a month or so longer.
If you're waiting for a hell of a bargain on a Moto G, hold on a month longer (so newer phones push prices down further).
Unless you're in dire need to replace a broken/malfunctioning phone... you'll get a new phone within 1-2 months at either better specs or a better price.

My OnePlus One should be coming tomorrow! Yay! Thanks jb000 again for the invite!
In theory, I should have an invite to give away within days and it's only fair to give to someone here... anyone wants?

No worries. I hope you enjoy it.

I got mine a couple of weeks back and still not had any invites. Word is they're moving to a pre-order system in October so don't know if we'll get invites at all.
Word of advice - unlock the bootloader as soon as you get the device before doing anything else, as unlocking it wipes everything back to factory settings. I'd also suggest rooting and installing a custom recovery while you're at it. Instructions here.
I moved from stock CM11S (rooted) to CM11 nightlies yesterday. Nice and straightforward to do and there's a zip on XDA with the proper 11S version of some of the apps, such as camera, gallery etc which get replaced by standard CM11 ones. I'll dig a link out if you're interested.
Apologies if all the above is either of no interest to you or teaching you to suck eggs.

No no, it's interesting, I have been using iPhones for the last 6 years or so, so I know nothing about Android phone at all... Thanks for the advice.
Talking about the invites, my understanding is that the will operate with both systems somehow - people with invites will always get their phones and pre order is like a flash window ordering thing that you have to be there at the right time to get a phone.... I could have misunderstood it though.

I think you are right. However it took about 6-8 weeks for me to get the invites through after having my phone so I wouldnt hold your breath regarding getting them.

^^ thanks for the clarification, I'll keep an eye out for invites. Also, people seem keen on tempered glass screen protectors for the OPO. I got these. No bubbles under it, even though I managed to get a tiny bit of fluff stuck under it the first time, I took it back off and reapplied it with no problem. Also, got this cheapo gel case and that's (presumably) helped it to survive a couple of drops already.

I went ahead and got their flip fake leather case, not usually my cup of tea, but the easiest for the time being both to protect the glass and drop... Nt having a HK credit card makes online shopping a lot harder... Asking my mum to pay for everything is embarrassing...

Sadly, there doesn't seem to be any proper fix for this.
My soft keys went a couple of months ago - used a soft key app for a while. However, the problem gets progressively worse and by last week various parts of the screen had stopped responding. Finally binned the Nexus 4 last week

Rceived my OnePlus one today, really like it so far... But I have to say it looks more complicated than the OSX I am used to.
A somewhat stupid question, I suppose I can replace the charger than comes with it, let say, with my spare iphone charger? Obvs the cables are different, but I am talking about the charger head, since they are both just USB... The one that comes with the OPO is EU so they thrown in a 3 legs UK adaptor, which is just a little annoying...
-
• #15141
Yeah, it's a crap charger, shame they didn't do a proper UK version. It does charge it quick though! You can use any charger that'll do 2.1a 5V. It's not just the charger itself but also the cable that'll make a difference.
I ended up buying this and this .
Seem to do the trick, also I found my Nexus 7 charger was almost as quick as the Oneplus charger.
Feel free to ask more questions, it's a long slow day at work.

Thanks mate, I was in a mobile phone shop earlier, we have many weird ones here in HK and the guy recommended a cable that can charge about 1% per min... About fiver... Might give that a go and use my space iphone charger...
I was also a little disappointed the phone didn't come with a pair of headphones... Bbt then they are usually crap, except for the iPhone ones... :-) (still an Apple fan inside me!)
-
• #15143
Oh yeah, forgot you're in HK. The original OP cable can do about 1% per minute. Which is rather handy considering the capacity of the battery.
-
• #15144
I actually quite like the fat flat cable design... I know it's not a new design, but still quite like it...
Why did you give up the original cable?
-
• #15145
Ah I didn't give it up, just wanted an extra charger and longer cable. Kept original and got the above. One stays at home and one goes in my bag. Also found that (in a pinch) blackberry chargers seem to charge faster than most other regular USB chargers.
-
• #15146
Hahaha... The latest trend in HK is power bank, every other person I see carry a portable power battery thing with their phone plugged into it... It's almost funny to see this on public transport.
Don't get my started on public transport... I miss my bike! Public transport sucks!

Still haven't unlocked the bootloader etc due to not having a PC... Is this the same thing?

Looks like it'll do all the same things. Obviously I can't vouch for it as I could the method I posted, but people seem to say it works... I assume that you'll have the same thing with unlocking the bootloader completely wiping the entire device back to stock, so back stuff up!
-
• #15149
Thanks,! There is nothing to backup, so I have nothing to lose... So to speak.

Well, good luck! I'd suggest using TWRP as your recovery. Root it and there are a few handy apps :)
further more to the annoyance, i found the DCIM folder with nothing in it in case someone asks.
