  • Hmm... these perhaps? http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/CLPXWINGL/planet-x-wind-block-gloves

I'm sure we can delay it slightly depending on the route length - we finished just before it got dark enough for lights yesterday, but given the rate that the evenings draw in it'll probably be lights weather from about half six next week!

Hopefully I'll have my bike back by then, I really can't ride a mountain bike at that pace for that distance!

  • Looking forward to the next one, spent Sunday walking around Sheringham Park with the fam and didn't get back til late :(

Just invested in another Lezyne light and a helmet mount so all set for mobile Christmas tree mode..

  • Also Aldi are going to have a load of cycling stuff in stock from Thursday, might be worth a look for picking up some cheap bits and pieces!

  • I'd be amazed if those gloves were super warm for 6 quid - but I'm tempted to try anyway.

  • I had some similar ones last year which i lost... They really are super warm! Maybe a bit too warm..

  • Email confirmed from @jakjakjak, so I'll get the plug in nice and early:

    DANDY RIDE #9 - SUNDAY 28th SEPTEMBER - EVERYONE'S WELCOME.

    FAST RIDE - MEET 15.30, LEAVE 16.00 - 30 MILES - FINISHING AT PLASTERERS AROUND 18.00 - BRING LIGHTS.

CASUAL RIDE - MEET 16.00, LEAVE 17.00 - POOTLE - FINISH AT PLASTERERS AROUND 18.00 - LYRCA LEFT AT HOME.

Hope to see good numbers again this week - the cold won't stop us spinning spokes and telling jokes with good folks!

  • @jakjakjak says my bike will probably be back on Mon/Tues so looking likely I'll miss this one unless someone has a fixed/ss/road bike I can borrow for it...

  • Boooo!

  • Will definitely try to make this one, missed the last couple..

Bikes now in winter mode, cardboard wont like the damp air haha

  • Boooo!

Tell me about it, I can't wait to see what it looks and rides like but if it's not going to be back by Friday then there's not a lot I can do!

  • I have a pair from a few years ago which are my main winter gloves. Better than my £40 Sealskinz. Is a bit hit and miss though. Last years looked awful.

  • I have a courtesy bike from the DH so will definitely make the ride Sunday...muchos gracias to Matt!

  • The Vitus?

  • The white Raleigh that normally resides by the door

  • Ah yes, what a beauty!

  • Is today's Dandy ride still on? I believe @jakjakjak is out as he's injured his wrist..

  • I'm gonna have to give tonight's a miss, feeling pretty ropey and need to rest tonight as I've got a pretty packed week next week - sorry to be a let down

  • I can't make it either. I have a cold.

  • This Sunday's ride:

    All Steel 10: Double Figures
    Sunday 5th October
Challenging ride: meet at 3.30pm to ride at 4.
Casual Ride: meet at 4pm to ride at 5.

Firstly, apologies for the lack of two groups on last weeks ride. Fear not though, as this week will see the return on the casual cruise! The turnout for the recent rides has been fantastic. It's great to see new faces each week, and to see the old ones coming back for more.

The challenging ride will have a new hand at the wheel this week. Alex will lead, if not where no man has gone before, then at least along some of his favourite roads. The route will be new, but the deal's the same: 16-18mph, and a distance of around 30 miles.

The casual ride will take its time, take in the scenery, and take an hour or so before getting to the Plasterers first without so much as breaking a sweat.

  • It's Dandy X: The @thross Takeover!

The route is pretty much planned - just need to reccy it on Saturday to make sure it's all clear/the various fords we'll be crossing aren't completely flooded...

I'm psyched for it - just shy of 30 miles, starting and finishing on big roads, but with a load of silly little lanes in between; some new bits, but with some familiar sections too.

Hope to see loads of you there. Oh, and bring lights, as it gets dusky around 6pm nowadays and I don't want anyone dying on my watch.

  • Is it a quartz watch?

  • No it's just cheap and cheerful, but I inherited it from my granddad when he died, and I'd rather not have it have any other blood on it, or so to speak.

    #jokesturnedmorbid

  • Awkward story is awkward...

My watch is auto and never right...#wasteoftime

  • Should be able to make this today for change.

  • Sorry I didnt show, Matt said I missed you lot by like 10 minutes! Managed to catch up with another latecomer in trowse and went for a jaunt round near the usual route but didn't know which way you guys were headed.
