  • I walked past here the other day for the first time in ages. I don't skate or BMX, but the skating area is not very big anymore - it used to be much bigger under there 5-10 years ago. Is it even any good to use now?

  • This is an interesting read on the use of ‘culture-led development’ and how it leads to a skew in the way culture is received and places a more corporate feel to the areas of redevelopment due to the requirement of a financial return on the private developers investment.

  • And today the planning application was withdrawn by the SBC due to it being unlikely to get passed due to Boris' comments (but not the 35,000 planning objections).

We'll have to wait and see what their next step is as I'm sure we haven't heard the last of this.

  • Now's the time to demand they reinstate all the other bits they took away!*

*christtian spaceman is right, there was loads more banks & other space BITD

  • That's a good point. Take up the momentum whilst they've succeeded some PR space.

I do miss riding there that's for sure.

  • Now to campaign to put it back how it was. Only better.

  • I forgot to check this thread the other day when I heard the news.

I know it's been a hard battle for those directly involved so this is wonderful. Though the fact that they've had to retract the application for the Village Green status makes me think the SBC might try something else further down the line when it's not as public as it's been for the last year, hopefully there is something written in the small print that prevents this.
