whats it worth?

  • I have a san marco black leather seat that came with my sun solo road bike,

any ideas of what its worth looking to sell thanks,

  • Tried trawling eBay for similar ones or checking the 'what's my xyz worth?' thread? Think some better pictures might help too

  • If you can't find any accurate figures/other sales possibly the best way of judging the price of something is the lowest figure you'd reasonably accept for it.

Hypothetically, if I offered you a fiver for it, would you take it? If yes, then it's worth a fiver, if no, then it's worth a bit more. Ad inifintum.

Supply and demand rules the local marketplace; it's only worth what someone will pay for it :)

  • totally agree mate, although I would hate to sell it too cheap ;) say I sold it for a fiver and then turned about to be worth a lot more..
ill have to try and find some previously sold somewhere, you guys seem to know your stuff on here so was hoping someone had seen one before :)

  • I can't really see it in the picture, could you take another?

  • yeh ill take a better picture at the weekend mate

  • Nice

  • Selling it too cheap isn't such a bad thing, especially if you keep trading locally - people remember a bargain and tend to reciprocate, or that's what I've found anyway.

Older leather saddles are a bit of a false economy because of the popularity of Brooks, so it's hard to judge properly unless you can find repeat examples of the same saddle. And even then condition etc will play a part.

I'd just go with a figure you'd happily take for it, and then don't worry about it - enjoy spending the money you've just gained rather than thinking about what could have been!

  • Considering what you paid for the bike I'd say a fiver would be more than fair.

  • Saddles are a fairly personal thing, so once they reach 3rd hand, they're not worth a huge amount whatever the brand. Might be worth keeping for future possible retro builds, or future possible favour/karmagift to a mate, etc. These things will be worth more than the 10-15 pounds one might say it's 'worth'.

  • 1978 Ciocc San Cristobal, full super record (inclusive titanium BB and pedals...), headset is "normal" record as super record stack height was too high, mavic gp4, regal titanium, panto'd seat post and stem.

Chrome on fork not great, easily rechromed of course. It's a 50X51 frame, Pelizolli e-mailed me back and liked the build I did. It's not getting used very often...I'm not a type to let a bike sit and wait.

  • Worth a fair bit as cioccs are not particularly common in this country. Probably worth more as a breakdown of parts than a complete, unless you find the right (read tiny) buyer. Obviously, its dependant on condition.
