  • Chap on our club ride had these, they are not very good.

  • Surely that's just going to help turn it into a water gun pointing at your arse?

  • If anybody's got pics of SKS Longboards mounted onto Cyclocross forks, I'd really appreciate seeing them.
About to buy a pair of P45 Longboards for my Pomp and wondering how I'll get the guard down close enough to the front tyre (my EC70x fork is drilled and threaded on the back).

    TIA :)

  • Meccano...

  • For cross I wouldn't want it too close; anyway, the tab allows some verticality in fitting.

  • Thanks Andy.
@withered_preacher - I'm keeping those 32c Paselas on it, the bike's a commuter. I'm not riding CX on it (yet).

  • I have longboards on a caadx with 32mm paselas and they are fine with the standard fittings

  • Ask Retrovelo where they got their mudguard from? I used to have a Retrovelo bike with 26 2.35 tyres, their mudguard have massive clearance.

  • Funny you should mention Retrovelo, I was just looking at this...

I think 80mm wide should just about do it.

  • I reckon so too, I usually add 10-15mm approx on top of current tyres size, so 42mm tyres with 60mm or 28mm tyres with 40mm.

  • Got a set of Dia-Compe silver mudguards for sale £10

  • i just bought and fitted the PDW full metal fenders. They're astounding, good to look at, really easy to fit and don't make any noise

  • I have had a pair on my tourer for almost a year. Absolutely fit and forget, and smart. And match XTR graphite too, which is a bonus!

  • Brass rivets- where to get? What to use to fix?

  • Head dia 8mm, shaft 4mm, length 6mm (for PDW)

  • In the 'value for money' corner, I've just bought a pair of these for my commuter/tourer. I've no idea what model of SKS guard they are, but have to say that they look good and fit well. For under £20 posted, you can't go wrong! (Providing you've got clearance for them)

  • Have you fitted these yet tommmmmmm? Looking for something for my Genesis and also running 28mm tyres. SKS Bluemels were one of the recommendations I had.

Also, anyone use the Tortec's with reflective strips?

  • Does anyone have a front crud road racer for sale? Or anything similar that will fit into a relatively small space.

  • Being neither able nor willing to trawl through 47 pages of this thread to see if anyone had anlready answered this, but are full mudguards available in a classic style that can be fitted in some aesthetically pleasant way to a 700c steel road bike that doesn't have eyelets on the fork end and dropouts?

Raceblades really don't look right on this bike.

  • I still haven't fitted them, which is embarrassing really. I will let you know!

  • Velo Orange can probably supply the guards and also the P-clamps.

  • Either, PDW Full Metal Fenders (which are the best and come with all fixings), or any mudguards you want plus a pair of these

    http://www.tritoncycles.co.uk/accessories-c11/mudguards-c146/axiom-mudguard-axle-runner-set-of-4-p7474

The cheapest metal fenders are probably the ones from Tokyo Fixed but the Velo Orange ones have better clearance.

  • Oh cool!

I should add I don't have quick release wheels, however. But I expect these can be bodged.

  • Use p clips instead.
