• Also... a question.

    • Ignoring a forum will remove the forum and all of the items within the forum from everywhere.
    • Ignoring a conversation will remove the conversation from everywhere.
    • Ignoring an event will remove the event from everywhere.

What does ignoring a profile do?

My current feeling is that some things should get through as to take them out potentially ignores far more than just the content of that person.

    • For forums created by the profile = Show
    • For conversations created by the profile = Show
    • For events created by the profile = Show
    • For comments created by the profile = Ignore
    • For private messages instigated by the profile = Ignore (prevent addition of yourself to it, by them)
    • For comments on private messages by their profile = Ignore
    • For profile in profile lists = ignore

Sound about right with people's expectations?

There is a catch though... I can't easily remove ignored profiles from the people picker that drives things like the @mentions menu, the event invite thing, etc. It's a minor detail, but essentially those menus don't actually know who is asking the question, and without that I cannot filter the list.

  • For private messages instigated by the profile = Ignore (prevent addition of yourself to it, by them)

does this mean people will be able to see they have been ignored if they try to send the ignorer a PM?

  • Presently yes, but the ignore is so effective that they're not going to be able to contact the person ignoring them.

Actually, I can hide PMs started by the ignored person, so no... I'll just leave this as-is, they can imagine they've sent something but it won't show for the receiver.
