Ignoring a forum will remove the forum and all of the items within the forum from everywhere.
Ignoring a conversation will remove the conversation from everywhere.
Ignoring an event will remove the event from everywhere.
What does ignoring a profile do?
My current feeling is that some things should get through as to take them out potentially ignores far more than just the content of that person.
For forums created by the profile = Show
For conversations created by the profile = Show
For events created by the profile = Show
For comments created by the profile = Ignore
For private messages instigated by the profile = Ignore (prevent addition of yourself to it, by them)
For comments on private messages by their profile = Ignore
For profile in profile lists = ignore
Sound about right with people's expectations?
There is a catch though... I can't easily remove ignored profiles from the people picker that drives things like the @mentions menu, the event invite thing, etc. It's a minor detail, but essentially those menus don't actually know who is asking the question, and without that I cannot filter the list.
Presently yes, but the ignore is so effective that they're not going to be able to contact the person ignoring them.
Actually, I can hide PMs started by the ignored person, so no... I'll just leave this as-is, they can imagine they've sent something but it won't show for the receiver.
Also... a question.
