  • Also... a question.

    • Ignoring a forum will remove the forum and all of the items within the forum from everywhere.
    • Ignoring a conversation will remove the conversation from everywhere.
    • Ignoring an event will remove the event from everywhere.

What does ignoring a profile do?

My current feeling is that some things should get through as to take them out potentially ignores far more than just the content of that person.

    • For forums created by the profile = Show
    • For conversations created by the profile = Show
    • For events created by the profile = Show
    • For comments created by the profile = Ignore
    • For private messages instigated by the profile = Ignore (prevent addition of yourself to it, by them)
    • For comments on private messages by their profile = Ignore
    • For profile in profile lists = ignore

Sound about right with people's expectations?

There is a catch though... I can't easily remove ignored profiles from the people picker that drives things like the @mentions menu, the event invite thing, etc. It's a minor detail, but essentially those menus don't actually know who is asking the question, and without that I cannot filter the list.

  • Profiles should remain I reckon. How else will you remember who you've ignored? :)

The other stuff sounds reasonable. People just want to hide their comments right?

  • I'm going to give people a page that lists the things they have ignored.

Ignored things will always be directly accessible if you know the URL, but will never be returned in collections (search results, forum contents, comments on an item, etc).

So there will be this one page, that will be exempt from that, a super simple list of the people, forum and threads you've ignored.

    That's how you'll unignore something.
