Looking to do a few mixed surface mini tours (2 days probably) through the autumn/ winter. I'm thinking the Taff trail and Offa's Dyke path. Looking for suggestions for tyres that will grip well off road and not drag to much on tarmac. My gut tells me that is too much to ask and I'll be better off buying another Nobby Nic and swapping on to these when I know I'm going to be going off road.
Either that or something like the Marathon Mondials as a compromise.
The bike is 26" wheels.

You could go for Landcruisers.
Even that might be overkill. Maybe just Marathon Tours? Get the largest width that'll fit.

What's the accepted best all year round tyre? Conti 4 Seasons? Need something I can put on the road bike now and not remove til it wears out. I'm not one for changing tyres for different conditions.
And what width? Currently on 23c Mich Lithion and Conti Ultrasport combo.

Vittoria Rubino Pro or Schwalbe Durano

I fucking hate the stupid quote function
In reply to Miro, I weigh 20 kg more than you, and run slightly lower tyre pressure s

I can put 70 in the front 80 in the rear but I'll risk pinch flats (usually the front) on the faster descents. London is flat.

Anyone got that actual width of continental 4 seasons 28mm on 21mm rims?

Owen Reed just told me that the marks at the side of this tyre are typical for running at too low pressure?
This tyre was on the HED Ardennes Plus for about three months with the recommended 90psi; what gives?

Got my first puncture on my Schwalbe zx tubeless tyres today since putting them on last October. I have replaced the sealant once but it was all dried up when I took the tyre off so it must have been overdue.

Might get crucified for this but anyone use the Grand Prix Classics? I have a soft spot for tan/gum wall tyres.

They're not gumwall though, they're a shitty brown colour.

Yes it is chalky.

How many miles?

You don't need tyres with a thread pattern to ride off road, if the surface is rather dry. For racing and hard efforts, this doesn't apply.

How many miles?
Highly qualified has pointed out that a ride on a punctured for a bit already would lead to this. What was the question?

Anyone riding 32c on 13mm rims? Lots of places give a conservative no to doing that and say 28c is biggest you should go but some say modern rims are good for 3x internal rim width(38-39c on 13mm). But yeah thinking of 33c planet x uncle johns to go on my new pompino.
Surely butyl tubes get lighter by being thinner? Being as latex is more puncture resistant than butyl in the first place, using even thinner butyl tubes isn't appealing.
Although latex is more permeable (I stick to butyl on my daily bike), it doesn't lose pressure that quickly. Although if you're running 23mm tyres, the loss will be more noticeable as you'll need to run them at a higher pressure than, e.g., 25mm tyres.
GP4000S will trounce OC for durability.
But, like you, I carry a butyl spare for the same reasons.
