Got mine too, I now have a BMX pay and ride option on my account, can book 1 hour slots for £6 a pop.
They seem to have 20 available places for each session - and at least for the next 10 (from 19th sept) days all slots are currently empty. -

Got my membership sorted too... when are we going back?!
-
• #154
Just emailed them to set mine up. Woop woop!

Sent my e-mail as well. Have to say I'm quite tempted to try out the white water park. But maybe when it warms up again next year.

I can do most Sundays, afternoon is better for me as it takes me a good hour to get to from Westside.
Actually, is the track lit? I didn't think to check. In which case an evening after work could also be rather good.Edit: looking at the slots the last bookable one is 17:30 on the weekend and 17:00 on the weekdays and the dates are going into October so I'm thinking it must be lit.

I really want to do the white water rafting too but have never found enough other people keen!
In less watery news I've got the deets about Peckham adults only sessions.
Last sunday of the month, adults only coaching from 9.30am to 1pm. £12 for coaching and bike and helmet hire.
Next one is 28th Sept. I'm deffo going. Anyone else??
Peckham BMX Club deets: http://www.peckhambmx.co.uk/track-info/
Details about sessions via Southwark Council: http://www.southwark.gov.uk/info/200480/burgess_park/2847/burgess_park_bmx/3
NB you need to book in advance via southwark.sports@quadronservices.co.uk
I think once you've passed the accreditation/done a formal session you can hit up the track for FREE on their rock up and ride sessions! (but still can hire a bike for £3)

I might be able to come along for some of it. I'm planning on racing at Herne Hill that day, and my race starts at 12:30, but it's the right neck of the woods, isn't it?

I am well up for this! Poots get another event up in the forum.
MOC has tentatively agreed to becoming a bike widower for the weekend (I'm going to the NEC bike show on the saturday - if anyone fancies it) -

I've just been given a BMX, but it's up north and I need to collect it, can do start of Oct. :)

Actually, I have to say I think doing the BMX on Sunday has done me a lot of good. The last couple of months I've been feeling really reluctant to go out and ride and quite timid about cross and technical things, not sure if that was a result of my injury and lack of fitness, but I'm feeling much more inspired now, and keen to get out there again. Let's hope I can keep up this level of enthusiasm :)

That's really good that you feel this way now! :)
So I've been watching loads of BMX videos and seeing how the bike is handled, I think a lot of us were saying how because the back wheel was smaller than we're used to, leaning back on the bike was treacherous especially when the front wheel gets rad air, so in the videos, the riders let the front wheel up but keep tension on the bike and wheeling
the back wheel over the quick consession hump parts. But still pumping. - this is something I want to learn next , not because I'll be able to do it but I think that instead of stacking it and landing on my back with bike in air, I might just be able to stay on. -

I noticed that back wheel wheely thing going on, on the olympic seeding video you posted and immediately thought 'wish I could do that'

For those looking at bikes, for track use you ideally want a race BMX.
New ones can be had for a few hundred bucks, with decent enough spec.I'd definitely recommend a cruiser (the 24" wheeled ones like Clefty had) if you're taller and/or appreciate the extra stability.

This is the same as the LV hire bikes: http://www.tritoncycles.co.uk/bmx-bikes-c3/race-bmx-c27/se-floval-flyer-24-bmx-bike-2015-p9799

Thanks Rob, I was looking at the Kuwahara's yesterday funnily enough.
I've also just found that there is a BMX track 5 mins from my house in Perivale, doesn't look like there are any restrictions/induction needed and its free to use. Here's a pic
Don't think there is bike hire though :-( but that means I have an extra excuse to buy one... -

Saw some kid's bmx locked up outside Sainsbury's in Brixton last night and had massive bike envy. Taking it as sign that I should sign up for some more bmx-related chaos, so count me in for the 28th (if I can get up in time for a 9.30 start that is...)

+1 for 28th! Do we need to email them?

Poots has started another thread for the 'dirty south' Peckham track. The contact information is in there.
Not that I'm jealous or anything.........
I keep looking at bmx cruisers online..
Actually @chrisbmx116 as a seasoned bmxer - are there any reasonably priced bmx/cruisers that you would recommend for a beginner who maybe doesn't want to do a custom build - but wants something to thrash about on?
We had a mixture at the track, the taller amongst us had 24" cruisers (which I prefered) and the diddy ones had the smaller "20 wheel bikes (I think)
I think a few people on this thread might be interested.
