I have no intention of ever using the big ring. Only that all modern chainsets are triples. Could I just get a triple and only use the Granny rings?
Sorry to hijack your thread by the way. A bit reluctant to start my own though.
What I did on Kati's bike is to get a triple and have 46/30, then use a chain guard to replace the big ring, the advantage is that chain line is perfect on the 46t leaving less wear on the long run.
